“Say it,” Kaden ordered.
Blake exhaled. “He used poison first. Enough to make her weak and that if anyone noticed, it looked like her body was failing. When that didn’t happen quickly enough, he finished it.”
My nails bit into the envelope.
“He used wolfsbane and silver together. He told people she was already weak,” he said. “That her bloodline had made her unstable. That her death was sad, but expected.”
I finally looked up from the letter in my hands and stared at Blake. “And you know this how?”
His face changed.
Shame, maybe. Regret. It sat strangely on him, like his face had never been built to hold it well.
“I overheard things,” he said. “After everything started falling apart. Gregory talked more when he thought he had already won. Brittany knew enough to keep her mouth shut. I found records too. Bits of them. Doses. Notes. You weren’t the only one he was drugging in that house.”
I closed my eyes for one second.
