The door opened before either of us could keep needling the other, and Kaden walked in looking like he had already had a bad five minutes somewhere else and was now ready to turn the rest of the room into a funeral.
He stopped halfway in, looked at the way Blake and I were standing over the same table, and his eyes narrowed so fast I could almost hear the jealousy was about to strike him.
“What the hell is this?” Kaden asked.
Blake straightened first, and I watched his shoulders square up in that instant way men do when they know another man just walked into the room and made the temperature drop.
“It’s route planning,” he explained. “You know, the thing that keeps your territory from getting busted open.”
Kaden ignored him and looked straight at me. “Why are you standing that close?” he asked, and I could tell by the set of his jaw that he had already decided he hated the answer.
