Chapter 726: Five Stars Shine Together
With Chelsea and Arsenal reaching the Europa League final, the winner will qualify for next season's Champions League as the Europa League champion. This means that the 2019-2020 season will feature the unprecedented spectacle of five English teams competing in the Champions League.
This isn't the first time five teams from the same league have participated in the Champions League. Back in the 2015-2016 season, Sevilla qualified as Europa League champions despite finishing seventh in La Liga, which resulted in five Spanish teams earning Champions League spots for the 2016-2017 season. However, Villarreal, La Liga's fourth-place finisher, was eliminated in the qualifiers by Monaco, leaving only four teams in the group stage.
Now, due to rule changes, the top four Premier League teams and the Europa League winner gain direct entry into the Champions League group stage. Therefore, the 2019-2020 season is guaranteed to feature five English teams in the Champions League group stage.
In an alternate timeline, a similar situation occurred in the 2017-2018 season, when Manchester United, finishing sixth in the league, earned their Champions League spot by winning the Europa League. Combined with Liverpool's qualification through the playoffs, it marked the first time five Premier League teams appeared in the Champions League group stage.
However, in this timeline, Bruno's earlier transfer to Manchester United helped secure the 2016-2017 Premier League title, preventing that historic occurrence. Yet history seems determined to repeat itself, with this monumental moment arriving two years later.
The additional Champions League spot for the Europa League winner, occupied by an English team, denies Ligue 1's third-placed team, Lyon, a chance to compete in the Champions League next season.
Apart from the league's top four and either Chelsea or Arsenal taking part in the Champions League, the remaining teams include Wolves, who finished seventh. Wolves will begin their Europa League journey in the qualification rounds.
Meanwhile, Cardiff City (18th), Fulham (19th), and Huddersfield Town (20th) have been relegated.
Bruno Dominates the Stats
Bruno Fernandes led the Premier League scoring charts with 39 goals in 36 matches, securing his third consecutive Golden Boot. He also became the first player in Premier League history to score over 30 goals in three consecutive seasons.
Bruno also leads the European Golden Shoe race, five goals ahead of Lionel Messi. Despite Barcelona's concerted efforts in La Liga's penultimate round to assist Messi, he managed only to provoke an own goal and failed to score himself. For Messi to catch Bruno, he would need to score five goals in the final match—an extremely difficult feat. Thus, Bruno is highly likely to claim his third consecutive European Golden Shoe, besting Messi each time.

A Season of Records and Finals Ahead
The Premier League may have concluded, but Manchester United's season is far from over. Two crucial finals remain:
FA Cup Final against Manchester City on May 18 at Wembley Stadium.Champions League Final against Liverpool.
United are on the brink of history, aiming for their fourth consecutive FA Cup victory, a feat never achieved in the competition's 148-year history.
Having already won 14 FA Cups, United are the most successful club in the competition's history. A 15th title would only solidify their dominance further.
The 2018-2019 season encapsulates Manchester United's incredible era of success, showcasing their domestic dominance and European ambitions.
