Hachi shot up like a coiled spring and roared at Ye Xiu, "Ye Xiu, that's enough! You've killed me twice, and your woman has killed me once. Isn't that enough? When will you finally let me go?"
Ye Xiu sat on the sofa and said calmly, "Our paths were never meant to cross. The blame lies with you for hating the Xuanse and killing them on sight. I am a Xuanse, and your very existence is too great a threat to my people. That is why you deserve to die!"
"What if I stop hating the Xuanse from now on? Isn't that enough?" Hachi retorted angrily.
"A dog will always go back to eating shit. Your words have zero credibility with me," Ye Xiu sneered.
Hachi stared at Ye Xiu, the realization dawning on him. The only way Ye Xiu would spare him was if he offered a genuine "bargaining chip"—a pledge to stop hating the Xuanse. Realizing this, Hachi's tone softened. "What do you want?"
"Answer two of my questions, and I'll spare your life," Ye Xiu stated.
Hachi sat down opposite Ye Xiu. "Ask away."
