"Are you certain about this? You'll just get bored at my workplace." Thane insisted, trying to make his wife see otherwise. "You don't need to come with me, dearie."
"Come on," she nudged his side with her elbow. "I just realized that I've never been there with you, I'd like to meet the team again, and maybe go out like the last time." she suggested, leaning in closer.
Thane forced a smile, "Of course."
Any other day he would be glad, no, thrilled to have his wife by his side. But not now, not when she was supposed to be getting used to life, life without him.
"Don't worry, I won't distract you at work-" Thane's phone ringing cut her off.
He tried to silence it, but it was his mother calling. He reluctantly answered and placed the phone on speaker.
"Thane, thank goodness I was able to get through!" she cried into the call.
