Maverick returned to the Grayson house the next day only to find out that his grandfather had left for Thane's country. This he anticipated, he knew that the old man would try and get Thane back no matter what.
However, what he did not expect to hear was that his mother had been at the house before him.
"And what was my mother doing here?" He asked Desmond, his informant in the house.
Desmond responded with a gulp of whiskey, then a puff of his vape. With his grandfather out of the house, he was free to indulge for a bit.
"I asked you a question." Maverick hardened his voice.
He coughed, "Shit, why would I know?"
"Who did she come to see?" He demanded. His mother wasn't a fan of Laura or Sophia, so it couldn't have been either of them.
Was it Mallory? Matthew?
Desmond replied with tears in his eyes, "I don't know why she came, but a maid spotted her leave with my father."
Maverick pulled his brows together, "Uncle Edward?"
