Over the next few days, Paul received numerous requests to heal people.
It was mainly thanks to the patient's family's recommendations, and some people even came from neighboring towns and cities, to seek his help.
With each person he saved, his fame grew, and he didn't care, since by now he had nothing to fear in the mortal realm anymore.
He proved this when some jealous healers hired assassins to kill him, since he was taking away their work and destroying their reputations, by taking much less money, and successfully healing people they said were hopeless cases.
The assassins mostly died at Paul's hands, except for a group that decided to target his ladies and found out that they were not any less deadly than their man was.
By the third attempt, Paul had had enough of this and captured the would-be assassins, forcefully making them into slaves and ordering them to eliminate their clients instead.
This made even the most jealous healers reconsider taking action against him, and even the assassins were declining to take the job after hearing what he could do with them.
The only one who could do anything about Paul and his ladies at this time was the emperor, but he had no intention of making such a person into an enemy.
What's more, the emperor was grateful to Paul for saving his concubines.
His work as a healer didn't interrupt his cultivation with the ladies, and after taking the pills and potions, their cultivation grew much faster than before.
Paul was already level 68 of the seventh stage, while his ladies were rapidly approaching another stage breakthrough.
Even Anna, who was a stage above the rest of the ladies, was quickly approaching the seventh stage, and it would not take her that long to catch up to Paul.
-At this rate, we might reach the pinnacle of this realm before you.
She said one day, as they were discussing their progress in cultivation.
-It's inevitable.
Paul agreed.
-Su is already at my stage, and it won't take her too long to surpass me.
You are also not that far away, and it's only a matter of time before the rest of you catch up to me.
He added, knowing well that his cultivation progress was the slowest out of everyone in the family.
It didn't bother him that much, since his slow progress was crazy fast for other people, and he also knew that it was only temporary, and as soon as his foundation was rock solid, he would switch to the best technique for his physique, and the same was true for the ladies.
Before Anna could say anything more, Lia came announcing that another visitor was asking for Paul's help.
-It seems that I'll be busy for the rest of our stay in the mortal realm.
Paul sighed in resignation.
-You can only blame yourself.
Anna retorted with a smile.
But she was not much different, since she was asked to appraise items almost daily at the auction houses.
Her studies in this direction led to Xiao Han and Luo Feng, introducing her to some of their acquaintances, and after she appraised some items that the other appraisers had a hard time identifying, she became a go-to person for all the auction houses in the city whenever they had a problem with appraising something.
It didn't hurt that she was rewarded handsomely for her work, which made her happy, as she preferred to earn her own money instead of relying on Paul.
Anna was not the only one who became somewhat famous for her skills.
Elaina was invited many times by the herbalists to advise them about the best ways to grow their herbs.
Irine and Natalie, who followed her footsteps, became known seamstresses and had their hands full most of the time with orders.
Su learned alchemy from her reincarnation soul, and it turned out that she was talented in this field, so after a short while, she started making and selling some basic potions and pills.
Lia, Nia, Wu Yin, and Wei Lan had no talent in any of these fields, but instead they registered as adventurers and went out into the forests near the city to look for herbs and ingredients, and occasionally, found a goblin den or some low-level beasts, for which the adventurers' guild paid them rewards, and if they got an excess amount of ingredients, they brought it for Su to turn into pills and potions, or for Paul to practise his alchemy, in which he was becoming better and better as time went on.
Additionally, Rina Rin and Ran would occasionally join them to gain more combat experience.
Unfortunately, the three of them were still slaves, so they were unable to register themselves in the guild, but that didn't stop the other four ladies from splitting the rewards with them.
In short, they were all busy, with cultivation, learning, or working.
Paul was not against their work, even though he took it as his duty as a man of the house to provide for his ladies; he was happy to see their confidence grow as they earned their own money, and it also helped that they learned new things as they did so.
Paul smiled, thinking about it while walking with the servant to visit his newest patient, who was a little girl, and according to the information he received from the servant, she was sick, and the best the other healers could do was to prolong her life for a month at a time.
When they arrived at the mansion, the patient's family was renting.
Paul stopped in his tracks, recognizing the man whom the servant introduced as the father of the patient.
-It's been a while.
Paul said, not hiding his displeasure, seeing this person, as before him stood the man who commanded the attack on the Qi family in the White Falls town.
-Indeed, and I hope you don't hold a grudge.
Back then, it was strictly business.
-The past is the past, now show me the patient I came to heal.
Paul answered.
As much as he hated the shadow blades, he could not deny that this man spared his life when he could have killed him.
Additionally, after thinking things through over time, he decided not to go after the organization, since they were hired to do what they did.
In the end, they were no different from mercenaries, and it was the people who hired them that should be his targets.
-She's here.
The man said, walking into a room, where a girl around eight or nine years old lay on a bed.
Paul didn't wait for anything and used the diagnostic technique, but to his surprise, there was nothing wrong with the child.
He could not detect any illness, poison, parasite, defect, or anything else.
The only thing he could confirm was that this child's vital energy was being depleted, but there was no apparent reason for it.
-When did this start?
Paul asked the man.
-Since she turned five, ever since then, she has needed constant healing, every month, with either life element or nature element magic.
The man explained.
Paul was in deep thought and even asked his reincarnation soul for help in this case, but even the soul had no idea what was going on, since this was the first time it had seen such a thing.
Then he had an idea.
He approached the child and started pouring nature element mana into her body, tracking its flow.
-What are you doing?
The father asked, seeing his action.
-I'm trying to figure out what's happening with her.
Paul answered and continued his work.
As soon as he sensed the place, he was in shock.
