"What did the doctor say?"
Gao Lei had his hands in his pockets, leaning against the wall, "He didn't say much, just that it's not looking good, and we should be prepared." He tugged at the corner of his mouth, looking a bit helpless. "You should already know my dad's condition before, it's a terminal illness, just a matter of time."
Hearing him speak so nonchalantly about these things, Xia Lu was a bit stunned. She didn't really know Gao Lei; though they shared the same genes, being siblings, they weren't familiar with one another.
"Then just tell him I came by," Xia Lu said, intending to leave.
She never had much of a relationship with Gao Qishan, and if there was one, it wasn't a good one. The events from the past had nearly drained what little father-daughter sentiment they had, and she tried to harden her heart. Continuing to entangle with them would lead to no good outcome, she reminded herself.
"Sis, actually there's another reason I called you here today," Gao Lei said.
