"It's nothing. Dr. Du said with his medicine and good rest, I'll be fine." Ji Ying didn't want Xu Nianhua to feel guilty, so she changed the subject: "By the way, why isn't big brother home yet? He usually comes back by this hour, right?"
For some reason, Xu Nianhua's eyelids kept twitching today.
"Maybe something held him up," Xu Nian'an replied, as he and Xu Qinghe were out in the yard, chopping the wood they'd carried home into pieces.
They waited, and another half hour passed. Just as they started to worry something might have happened, they heard noises from outside.
"Uncle Xu, Aunt Xu."
"Uncle Xu."
Cai Gen and Yao Feng's voices rang out.
"Hey, isn't that Yao Feng and Cai Gen?" Xu Nian'an listened closely, put down the hatchet, and looked outside.
He wasn't prepared for what he saw—what a shock. The two of them seemed to be carrying something.
"Big brother!"
