Pei Family, in the dining room, marble dining table covered with chicken, duck, fish, meat, everything you could want, arranged on exquisite plates, the food refined and luxurious, steaming hot.
Pei Guozhong sat at the head of the table, Wan Hongxing and their son Pei Yijian sat to the left, Pei Yining was seated on the right.
Pei Guozhong looked at the empty seat, then slammed his chopsticks down on the table with a sharp 'pa'.
"It's Lantern Festival today, here, these tangyuan are your favorite black sesame filling." Wan Hongxing ladled out a bowl of black sesame tangyuan and handed it to Pei Guozhong.
Wan Hongxing's gentle words and calm, welcoming smile tempered the anger rising in Pei Guozhong's heart; he turned to Pei Yining and asked, "Where's your brother?"
"Brother, he…" Pei Yining's eyes darted and she said, "He's busy."
Busy celebrating Lantern Festival with his girlfriend—she wasn't lying about that.
