Si Wen was furious, and the consequences were dire. She immediately started a voice call.
Xue Xing, who was sound asleep, was startled awake by his phone. He instinctively fumbled for it, pressed the green button, held it to his ear, and mumbled a groggy, "Hello?"
His voice was so faint it was almost inaudible, as soft as the sound of a breeze rustling through leaves.
Si Wen paused. Her anger inexplicably subsided by more than half, and she even began to doubt herself.
Who am I? What am I doing?
"If you're not going to say anything, I'm going back to sleep," Xue Xing mumbled when the other person remained silent.
It was another one of those captivatingly seductive voices. Si Wen hesitated for a moment before asking, "You... do you always go to bed this early?"
Hearing a woman's voice—and a stranger's at that—Xue Xing's drowsiness began to fade.
