After hanging up the phone, Si Wen lay in bed.
For a fleeting moment, she considered asking her aunt for help, but the thought vanished as quickly as it came. Although reason told her that Xue Xing was far away and it was impossible for him to suddenly appear, her heart still clung to an unrealistic hope that he would arrive like a miracle.
"It's obvious, how could he possibly show up?" she muttered to herself, gently shaking her head. "We're so far apart, and he's in his stressful senior year of high school. There's no way he could come over at a time like this." With that thought, Si Wen drifted into a hazy sleep.
When she woke up again, it was already evening. She was alone in the room, and a tide of loneliness and solitude washed over her.
