Chapter 555 - Stealth is a Vital Part of Metal Gear Online

The coast was clear.

"Cloak of Invisibility Jutsu, Release!"

Sakura swept the grass-patterned camouflage tarpaulin from her shoulders, gathering it beneath one arm as she sprinted the last dozen metres separating her from Kusagakure's village walls, at the foot of which Neji, Ino and Karin were already huddled. She flattened herself against the cool stone beside them, holding her breath to still her bobbing breasts, as another guard making his rounds paused on the ramparts overhead.

The patrol ninja needed only to glance down, and he would see two pairs of pale, flesh-coloured globes, faintly aglow in the moonlit night… one large, the other enormous.

"No fair…" Karin grumbled inwardly, staring wistfully at Sakura's and Ino's generous curves.

Was it just her imagination, or was Ino looking plumper than usual? Apart from her restored bust, there was a certain softness to her face and figure that had not been there before… when she stopped moving, it took a fraction of a second longer for the rest of her to come to rest.

"The Kusa-nin patrol the village walls at regular intervals," Neji mouthed. "Twenty seconds between each patrol; we'll have to go one at a time."

While her three teammates scaled the wall one by one, Sakura turned her camouflage cloth inside out, hiding the green grass patterns and revealing its urban camouflage side; dull grey with angular, brick-like patterns.

Once the latest guard had passed overhead, Sakura carefully moulded a small amount of chakra and began to walk up the side of the wall, her large breasts shifting beneath her dress despite the tight bindings across her chest, sloping heavily to either side of her ribcage.

Sakura hurriedly finished her climb before she suffered a wardrobe malfunction, then vaulted over the wall and landed silently on the other side in a large courtyard bathed in moonlight. There, she found Neji staring into the wall they had just cleared, thick veins bulging around his eyes.

"Danzō found the surveillance team," he said grimly. "They're in danger."

In the best of worlds, Danzō would have shown up right after the infiltration team had accomplished its mission, but they weren't even close to being done. This was too early; if the surveillance team's battle attracted Kusagakure's attention, then stealthily reaching their leader would become next to impossible.

It took Sakura only a fraction of a second to reach a decision. "Go back and help them," she ordered Neji. "Karin, find somewhere to hide and stay there. Ino and I will carry out the mission."

As she spoke, thick veins bulged around her eyes, which turned milky white.

Neji took Sakura's latest transformation in stride. If he was surprised, he showed no sign of it. He simply nodded before flickering over the wall and vanishing into the night, while Karin reluctantly trotted away and hid herself inside an abandoned-looking warehouse.

"Who did you get those from?" Ino said breathlessly as they hurried towards the village centre. "Hinata?"

"Something like that!" Sakura replied. "...ugh."

Sakura was beginning to sway with vertigo.

She hadn't had much practice using the Byakugan, so she still struggled to focus her sight and control its penetrative range. Forget seeing a full three hundred and sixty degrees around herself; if she so much as tried, she was more likely to lose her balance and fall over backwards, or else lose track of her immediate surroundings and walk straight into a wall.

As it was, the best she could do was create a cone of vision in front of her with a height of about ten metres. If she turned her head from side to side, she could get a fairly good idea of what waited for her behind the next set of walls with her sweeping gaze.

Taking Ino by the hand, Sakura led her through a labyrinth of back alleys.

In the black-and-white world of her Byakugan's sight, sensor-nin appeared as see-through, spherical masses of chakra, marking interdiction zones she couldn't enter without being detected, while ordinary shinobi and civilians appeared as either mottled clusters of chakra or shadowy silhouettes, depending on whether any chakra was circulating within their pathways.

Sakura stopped in her tracks before a discarded cardboard box marked with the word みかん, sitting proudly atop a pile of burnable rubbish in an alley.

"What are you doing?" Ino whispered. "Hungry for mandarin oranges?"

"The ultimate in stealth technology," Sakura murmured emotionally. "I'm, like, so solid right now."

Ignoring the strange looks Ino was shooting at her, Sakura quickly folded up the empty box of satsumas and stored it in her deep cleavage. With this, she would be able to take her Cloak of Invisibility Jutsu to the next level; no chakra required!

Thankfully, Kusagakure was not an especially big village, and its layout was well known to Konohagakure, so Sakura knew exactly where to go to reach the village's leader… or rather, leaders.

Kusagakure was divided between two factions: the dove faction, known as the Grass Flower Group, and the hawk faction, known as the Grass Seed Group. The Flowers opposed using the Box of Ultimate Bliss to restore Kusagakure's lost glory, while the Seeds sought to awaken it and once again use it to conquer the world.

This arrangement was one of the reasons Kusagakure was so diplomatically adept, and why it was often seen as two-faced by the surrounding nations. It could reap the advantages of being a bloodthirsty, warmongering country that attacked its weaker neighbours, while at the same time enjoying a reputation as peacemakers; effectively doing one thing while saying another.

In any case, the hawk faction was already furious with Iwa and Kumo for making off with the Box of Ultimate Bliss and its Keeper of Secrets, so all Sakura really needed to do to bring Kusagakure to her side was to "convince" the leader of the dove faction, who was otherwise glad to be rid of the Box.

Before long, Sakura and Ino were standing across the street from the Grass Flower Group leader's home, and thanks to Sakura's penetrative sight, she knew the woman was inside.
