Vergil continued watching the battle between Musashi Miyamoto and Shuten-dōji with an attention he rarely devoted to any confrontation. The swordsman had completely changed his stance after discovering the true nature of the Oni's abilities, and every movement seemed to reveal a new possibility within his two-sword style.
Musashi was learning to deal with Shuten's influence over his senses. Although his movements remained slightly slower, he had already begun adjusting his breathing and the distance between his strikes, attempting to compensate for the false information he was receiving.
Vergil smiled faintly.
"That bastard really is good..." he muttered, watching Musashi intercept one of Shuten's charges and use his short sword to deflect the Oni's enormous blade.
He was beginning to understand why Susanoo considered that man one of the greatest swordsmen in history.
However, before he could comment further, a female voice suddenly appeared directly in his thoughts.
