Sasaki Kojirō finished drawing his katana.
Or at least, he tried.
The instant the blade left its sheath, his right arm simply disappeared. There was no blood, no explosion, and no perceptible resistance. The limb had been separated from the rest of his body by a spatial slash so precise that, for several seconds, Sasaki couldn't even comprehend what had happened.
Vergil remained standing before him, holding Yamato with a completely unconcerned expression.
Sasaki looked at the empty space where his arm had been.
Regeneration began immediately, but stopped almost as quickly. Demonic energy coursed through his shoulder, attempting to reconstruct the missing limb, but something prevented the process from being completed.
His arm hadn't been destroyed.
It was in another world.
