Minghao slowly put down her fork.
Qin Xinyu's expression darkened, but before he could respond, Minghao looked directly at the girl.
"Is there something wrong with cafeteria food?"
The girl blinked.
"What?"
"You seem very concerned about what I'm eating. I'm beginning to wonder whether you came here to have lunch or to inspect my tray."
A few students nearby chuckled.
The girl's smile disappeared.
"I'm only saying that it's unusual. Someone like you should be used to better things."
"Perhaps you should worry less about what I'm used to and more about what you're putting on your own tray."
"Minghao..." Qin Xinyu murmured, though he couldn't quite hide his amusement.
The girl flushed.
"Don't get smart with me. Everyone knows the Huo family is wealthy. So why are you sitting here eating cafeteria food like you can't afford anything better?"
Minghao leaned back in her chair.
"Because I wanted to."
Her answer came without hesitation.
