Huo Ting Cheng entered after her, closing the door before turning to look at her dusty sandals.
"Should I inform the resort that my wife has suffered a serious injury?"
Tang Fei turned toward him.
"What injury?"
"Exhaustion. Severe exhaustion caused by excessive walking."
She burst into laughter.
"You're ridiculous!"
"I'm only concerned about your health."
"Then you should order me something delicious for dinner. That would help with my recovery."
"Is that what the doctor prescribed?"
"Yes. A very expensive doctor."
He smiled and reached for her hand, examining her fingers briefly before brushing his thumb across her knuckles.
"Anything else in the prescription?"
"Something sweet."
"Chocolate?"
"Perhaps."
"Strawberries?"
"Definitely."
"Then I'll make sure everything is ready."
Tang Fei leaned back, looking pleased.
"See? You're a very good husband after all."
"Only after all?"
She pretended not to hear him, turning toward the window.
