"Talking"

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the expanse of space, there floated seven planets - all near perfectly aligned, in a circumstance that couldn't be accounted for by luck. They were always this way - always in a straight line, no matter the size or rotation of the planets, in a way that defied all logic. It was something that shouldn't have been possible in a natural setting. It was almost as if a godly being had set them up this way and ensured that even the planets themselves couldn't escape from the radius of the other planets around them.

But, regardless of divine intervention or not, the planets still floated there in a straight line. They had years, for decades, for centuries, and for millennia. For the inhabitants of each planet, glancing up into the sky and seeing the far, distant outlines of the other planets, looking like massive stars and moons, was a part of life. It was how it had always been, and it was how it would always be.

Or, it would've been, if the seventh planet, known as Monas, didn't erupt into a massive ball of fire. Flames streaked through the air, and if you had been present on one of the nearby planets, it would've looked like the apocalypse had come. Chunks of planet rained down from the sky, scattering across the air like a shower of meteors, and filling the sky with a rain of fire.

But if you were on the nearest planet to Monas, known as Logon, you would've only had roughly half a minute to be concerned about the rain of destruction. That was because, just a few moments later, you would be greeted by a massive, pure-white streak of power.

It crossed the sky, looking as if a godly being had sent down a ray of light, until it made contact with Logon. The sky exploded with brightness, as if a thousand suns had been placed above it. But, if you could somehow see through that brightness, you would see what looked to be a humanoid silhouette.

Then, Logon exploded.

Compared to Monas' long, drawn-out destruction, which stemmed from countless blows adding up, and then one final beam of power to push the planet beyond its limits, Logon exploded instantly. One second it was there, and the next, a beam of light ripped through its core, and it was gone.

If you were on the next planet in line, Inseton, you wouldn't have even seen the beam of light. That was because, unless you were a highly trained and immensely powerful being, you wouldn't have had time to process the light before the planet under your feet exploded from within.

The situation would be the same from any of the next three planets - Wowea, Mam, and Hom - as well. In one instant, the planets stood tall and proud, as they had for millennia. Then, in the blink of an eye, they were turned into nothing but floating rocks and debris in space as all life faded from existence.

Of the seven planets that had always been aligned, there was only one that remained. And, as a figure landed on the surface in a ball of fire, the trajectory of Universe 7 changed forever.

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One Minute Earlier

Thanks for the save, Blast!

Gray grinned widely as Blast's fist slammed into Boros' face, and the alien's counteracting beam faded into just a Ki blast. His Kokuyo continued forward, intent on destroying all of Monas below him, and Gray yanked his hands up as he cut off the Ki supply of the beam.

The hard part is done.

The problem wasn't with destroying Monas itself, but in destroying the planet quickly so neither Boros, Orochi, or Garou could use some bulltshit to get away. Then, the next problem came from launching the perfect amount of power towards the planet.

Enough to destroy it, but not enough to do it before I can get away.

If Gray simply launched his Kokuyo down towards the planet, then he could've overpowered any attempt that Boros gave to counteract his attack - but then, he wouldn't have the valuable few seconds he needed. Gray's hand tapped in the air, navigating through the shop system as he silently mourned the amount of coins he was about to lose.

But, just as his hand was hovering over the purchase button, his finger about to press down and drain his wallet dry, a portal opened next to him.

"What are you doing?!" Blast huffed, grabbing Gray's arm, and then yanking him forward as another portal appeared, "There's no time to mess around!"

"Messing around?! I'm about to save our lives, moron," Gray huffed, raising his hand to move back to the shop screen as he hoped that Blast's helpful intentions wouldn't fuck over his plan, but then stopped and blinked.

They appeared next to Saitama, and Blast's hand yanked the bald man back by his bare arm as he was mid-punch, and then the trio vanished through another portal - and then appeared in an unknown area, but one that was very clearly not Monas.

Gray blinked rapidly as the world around him went from pitch-black to a light shade of purple. Compared to the chaos on Monas, the area around him was covered in dark purple dirt, bright orange trees with bright yellow leaves, and an overall peaceful atmosphere.

"The fuck?" Gray asked eloquently, glancing over at Blast curiously.

"We're on Logon," Blast responded as if it were obvious, still panting lightly from the strain of the battle, "Going straight to Harro in one portal is too much for me in this state, but we can hop between planets until we get there."

Gray's eyes widened as Blast spoke.

He created a portal all the way to another planet?! How fuckin' high level is his [Portal Creation]?!

Granted, Gray had never tried traveling between planets with his portals, but there was a reason for that. After leveling up the skill a lot, he was no longer confined to the small, limited area of the portals and could make multiple portals that were even thousands of feet apart.

But, traveling between entire planets? That's fuckin' overpowered!

But as Gray swiped away the shop and didn't have to shit-ton of his coins to them off of Monas before it exploded, he wouldn't complain.

My plan would've been a lot riskier, too.

"Huh? We're done fighting?" Saitama spoke this time, looking a bit disappointed as he glanced around the peaceful-looking planet, "Damn. What now?"

'What now' indeed.

Gray glanced up, looking far into the sky above them as the distant, almost moon-like outline of Monas was visible as it exploded into flashes of light. A moment later, a notification appeared to his side.

[Monster King 'Orochi-Psykos' has been defeated!]

+47,500,000 XP!

+47,500,000 Coins!

Level up!

+50 Attribute Points!

Level up!

+50 Attribute Points!

Level up!

+50 Attribute Points!

Not fuckin' bad! Actually, really damn good!

Gray's lips twitched up into a grin at the insane rewards, as he leveled up thrice and almost doubled his coin count. His body finally relaxed, the Kaio-Ken fading as he looked over the rewards. It was a shame that he couldn't save the third gravity chamber, but he looked past that, as it couldn't be helped.

It would've been a nice make-up reward if I had to use my coins, but because of his portals, I didn't even have to do that! Fuck yeah! I'm fuckin' rich now!

But Gray's grin soured soon after, as he glanced back up at the silhouette of Monas.

Why is there only one notification?

Upon destroying the entire planet, Gray had expected to get three of these - one for Orochi-Psykos, one for Boros, and one for Garou. And, he had expected a quest completion as well.

…They probably just haven't suffocated in space yet. Or, maybe Orochi got credit for killing them, since he was the planet. But…

Gray didn't get a quest failure notification either, which instantly put him on edge as he reached out, grabbing Blast's shoulder.

"Take us back to Harro," He said bluntly, causing Blast to look over at him with a raised eyebrow.

"I will. Just give me a moment to rest-"

"Do it now," Gray interrupted him bluntly, his tone urgent as his eyes bored into Blast's, "Some bullshit is going on. We need to get there as soon as possible."

I don't know what happened to those two fuckers, but if they're still alive, then we need to get the hell away from Monas!

"...Got it," Blast finally grunted, nodding at the urgency in Gray's eyes. He reached out, placing a hand on both Gray and Saitama as he dragged them through another portal.

They appeared for only a split second on a bright green-looking planet as Blast took a breath, and then they were gone. The next planet was much the same, looking very blue in the fraction of a second Gray saw it before Blast yanked them onto Mam. A moment later, onto Hom, and then, finally, all the way to Harro.

"Grah," Blast coughed as they appeared, heaving a bit as sweat coated his body because the strain of the battle and then transporting them added up. Meanwhile, Gray glanced around, quickly noticing that they were in a familiar setting - right outside the Hero Association.

It would've been nice to have him around on the trip there. It took hours to travel between each planet, but we just got back here in only a few seconds.

But, even as they arrived outside the Hero Association and the gates opened, and someone came out to meet them, Gray didn't let his guard down.

I won't rest until I see that notification.

If Garou and Boros really were still alive, then Gray knew the situation was far from safe.

If they're alive, then they used some bullshit to stay alive. That means they'll probably have some dumbass powerup. It's Nightmare Mode, there's no way they'd show up and just let us kick their asses again!

"I need some clothes." Off to the side, Saitama was much less concerned about the situation as he reached down, pulling at the small, almost thong-like piece of his uniform that still remained.

"You guys are back!" Coming out from the gates came the form of Stich, jogging forward with a relieved look on his face at the sight of the group, "We saw through Metal Knight's cameras what you did! Good work!"

"No problem," Saitama answered casually, and Gray opened his mouth to respond more seriously, but then paused as his ear twitched slightly.

Did I just hear a… boom?

Gray blinked, wondering if he was going insane as a small, barely noticeable, explosion sounded in his hearing. As if it were far, far away.

"Did you guys hear that?" He asked bluntly, glancing around at the group, who didn't give him the answer he was looking for.

"Hear what?" Sitch asked, looking at him curiously.

"Oh, sorry, I was cleaning my ear," Meanwhile, Saitama had one finger in his ear as he definitely didn't hear anything.

Maybe I am just going crazy-

Gray cut his own thoughts out as another quiet, but louder than before, booming noise sounded out. As if something had exploded far away, but closer than before.

"You heard it that time, right?" Gray asked, looking over at Saitama, only to find…

"Oh, sorry, I was cleaning my other ear," Saitama repeated, this time having his finger in his other ear as Gray looked at him blandly. However, a second later, a louder, much louder, boom rang out, and Saitama was forced to hear it.

"An explosion?" Blast muttered, glancing up into the air as he heard it too, "But it was far away. It's probably something on the other side of the planet that a hero is handling. Right now, I need to rest-"

Blast was cut off as another much louder explosion rang out, and all three men, with the exception of Sitch, who still couldn't even hear the explosion, glanced straight up.

It's coming from… space?

Gray glanced upward, his eyes narrowed as the constant booms seemed to come from above him.

"What are you guys-" Sitch started to ask confusedly, but a final, overpowering, explosion rang out - one that even Sitch was forced to hear as he reached up, covering his ears from the loud noise. He wasn't the only one, as all around Harro, every inhabitant heard the ear-wrenching boom.

And, as Gray stared upward, his eyes went wide. Far, far above, in a silhouette that looked more like a moon than a planet, sat Hom. He had seen it before, as from Harro's surface, even during the day, you could always see the distant Hom and Mam. And, in the dark night sky around Gray right now, Hom was very visible.

Or, more specifically, the remains of Hom were very visible. Far above, the entire brownish planet was changing color - becoming a dark red, and then completely fading from view into blackness. Rocks flung in every direction, looking like meteors as they streamed down towards Harro like balls of fire. The night sky was suddenly lit up with flashes - bright white and red lights filling the air as if massive fireworks were being set off.

"It's… exploding?" Blast muttered to Gray's side, his eyes wide as Hom was crumbling before their very eyes. But Gray was less concerned about that, and more concerned about one large, massive chunk of Hom that was hurtling down towards Harro - and, more specifically, towards them.

There's energy there. A lot of it. Someone's there.

Gray didn't entirely know what was happening, but he knew that the massive ball of fire streaming downward, looking like a massive meteor, had someone on it.

"Be ready to fight," Gray gritted out bluntly, reaching over as his hand started tapping through his shop system quickly.

"What's happening?" Sitch asked wearily, glancing between the three heroes, but Gray didn't answer. His finger tapped rapidly, and a moment later, three Senzu Beans fell into his palm.

"Eat them," He said bluntly, flicking one to Saitama and the other to Blast. Blast looked at him curiously, but as Saitama ate the bean without questioning it, and then his bruises faded away, Blast nodded.

I don't know who that is, but he's fuckin' strong. It's a bit of a waste since I'm already at full HP, but I can't afford to be cheap here.

Gray popped his own Senzu Bean into his mouth, feeling his fatigue fade away from his Kokuyo earlier. His back stiffened as he stared up, watching the meteor grow closer and closer. It came streaming down, looking not too different from a massive Saiyan Pod. It was easily hundreds of feet round, and as it crashed towards the Hero Association, Sitch grew panicked.

"W-We need to go! We're about to be crushed by that!" He shouted, pointing upward panickedly, but his concerns were alleviated as Saitama's legs tensed. He launched upward, causing a crater to form under him as he blasted into the atmosphere while the meteor grew closer, and then lashed out with a punch.

As his fist hit the rock, it crumbled under the force, and small pebbles were sent flying around as the flaming meteor exploded. However, as the meteor crumbled, a figure did a backflip off of it - casually free-falling hundreds of feet as he landed in front of Gray and Blast in a crouch.

You… will… regret…

Gray's eyes widened as he spun around, then looked straight up, as a familiar voice spoke into his head. However, there was no floating behemoth above Harro this time.

That god fucker.

Instead, there was just a familiar silhouette in front of him. The man looked far different, and far more inhuman. His silver hair was gone, replaced by pitch-black. His head was the same shape, but his facial features had vanished, being replaced by a deep black void. His body was the same, being pitch-black and space-like. It was as if someone had taken the void of space and then compressed it into human form.

But, despite his changed appearance, Gray could very clearly recognize who the figure was.

Garou.

As more meteors rained down from the dying Hom far above, filling the sky with fire as it looked like the apocalypse had come, Gray could only think of a familiar phrase.

Fuck you, Nightmare Mode.
