Chapter 531 - Chapter 531, Kill a Few for Fun

Chapter 531, Kill a Few for Fun

The shadow crawled along the wall, climbing up the balcony.

Just as it was about to enter the room, the Skeleton Prophet rushed in directly.

The wooden staff in its hand heavily struck the shadow on the ground.

The shadow at the spot where the staff struck began to twist and struggle, forming a black hand that reached for the skeleton's ankle.

The Prophet took a step back, dodging the attack.

The level 18 Prophet, possessing [Domain Foresight], could create a personal domain around itself to foresee incoming dangers in advance.

Whether the shadow attempted to sneak around or launch an attack—

The Prophet could always react one step ahead.

Inside the room, Andviel pressed herself against the door, eyes wide as she watched the scene unfold before her.

She held a pistol in her hand, ready for battle.

The shadow and the Skeleton Prophet tangled at the balcony for a while before escaping and disappearing into the night.

The spectral spirit in the sky followed closely behind and left as well.

The scene ended, and Wu Heng's pupils focused.

He patted the skeleton on the shoulder. "Good job. I owe you for last night."

The Prophet bowed slightly, showing respect.

"You can keep enjoying the view."

The Prophet sat back in its chair and resumed gazing out the window.

Wu Heng rubbed his temples, suddenly feeling a headache coming on.

He seemed to lack any effective means to deal with spectral spirits.

Even if they didn't pose a threat to him, the maids were still at risk.

"Necromancers are such a pain!"

He hadn't thought much of it before, but now, facing a high-level necromancer—

He realized how troublesome this profession truly was.

He stood there thinking for a moment before reopening the door and heading out.

...…

He descended from upstairs.

The catgirl, Robe, came running up quickly. "Master, a squad from the guild arrived. The team leader said the steward sent them to escort the armored vehicle to the port. Everyone's waiting in the courtyard."

The guild's squad had arrived.

"Got it. Go ahead and carry on with your tasks." Wu Heng patted her head.

Robe smiled, her cheeks slightly red. "Yes, Master."

She skipped off toward the dining room.

When Wu Heng reached the courtyard, he saw a small team chatting by the flower bed.

Seeing him approach, they immediately saluted. "Island Master, the steward instructed us to take the armored vehicle directly to the port."

During the previous meeting, Sheila Grey had mentioned this matter.

She was worried that more people might seize the opportunity to invade the island, so they needed to station an armored vehicle there.

When Wu Heng returned earlier, he had checked the emerald sand table and confirmed that no suspicious ships were nearby.

But Sheila Grey's concerns were indeed valid.

Wu Heng nodded and walked to an armored vehicle, tapping on its window.

The window rolled down, revealing a skeleton driver wearing a helmet in the driver's seat.

Wu Heng said directly, "Follow them and help defend the port. If anyone forcibly attacks, you may shoot at will, but do not engage in any other offensive actions."

The skeleton rolled the window back up, and the vehicle started.

Wu Heng thought for a moment and assigned 20 high-level skeletons to accompany the armored vehicle.

He wasn't too worried about anyone stealing the vehicle and turning its weapons on him, as his skeletons had undergone extensive training in both driving and operating the machine gun.

The buttons and wiring were vastly different from what this world was accustomed to.

Even if a powerful enemy managed to seize it, they wouldn't be able to operate it.

With the armored vehicle surrounded by skeletons, it drove out of the courtyard and waited.

Wu Heng turned to the small squad. "You should head there too. Be cautious and don't act rashly if anything happens."

"Understood, Island Master!"

They saluted again before following the armored vehicle out.

...…

Wu Heng returned to his room.

Minnie and Annette had already set breakfast on the dining table.

Wu Heng sat down and began eating, while the other maids sat nearby, staring intently at him.

"What's wrong?"

Minnie asked, "Master, is there danger on the island again?"

Every time Wu Heng restricted them from going out, it meant there was danger nearby.

They had grown used to this routine.

Wu Heng smiled. "Yes, there's some danger this time."

"Do you need our help? We train every day hoping we can be of assistance," Minnie added.

Robe and Annette nodded along.

Andviel furrowed her brow slightly but remained silent.

She knew that someone had entered the manor last night, and even the level 18 Skeleton Prophet had only managed to drive them away.

How could these maids, who had trained for just a few days, possibly help?

Wu Heng smiled. "I know you've been diligent. This time, the enemy is strong. I'll call on you for help when we face an opponent closer to your level."

"Are they really that strong? Sister Veil is strong too."

Wu Heng thought for a moment and decided to tell them about last night's events.

When they heard that the intruder was a necromancer and had nearly infiltrated with spectral spirits, their faces paled.

"What should we do then?" Minnie asked.

"Necromancers are tricky. Once discovered, they're likely to act immediately. So, you'll need to hide somewhere they can't find."

"Where won't they be able to find us?"

The other maids looked up, awaiting his answer.

"The Mansion Spell. Do you remember it?" Wu Heng asked.

"Yes, we remember."

They had seen him test the Mansion Spell in the courtyard before.

Wu Heng continued, "I'll place you all inside the mansion for now. Once this matter is resolved, I'll bring you back out."

The Mansion Spell was designed as a resting spot for traveling parties.

Not only could others enter—

He could enter too.

If he entered and closed the rift, reopening it would return the entrance to its original location.

But if he didn't enter and only others did, the next opening would appear near the caster.

Wu Heng hadn't tested entering himself yet. When he first acquired the Mansion Spell, he hadn't planned to live inside it.

But now, it provided the maids a safe hiding place.

The maids exchanged glances.

"Then we'll go pack our things."

"There's no need to bring much," Wu Heng said. Supplies could be conjured within the mansion.

Andviel responded, "We'll bring food, necessities, and some valuables. What if thieves break in while no one's home? With the space rings, it won't be a hassle."

That did make sense.

"Alright, pack what you need."

"Okay." They nodded and went to their rooms to gather their belongings.

...…

After finishing breakfast, Wu Heng sat in his chair and waited.

The maids came down from upstairs.

Their belongings were stored in the space rings, making it impossible to tell from the outside.

"Is everything ready?"

"All set. I had the chef prepare some food, enough to last us while we hide." Minnie patted her space ring.

"Don't worry, it won't take that long."

Gold-Silver Island isn't that big.

Searching like this, they could force the enemy out within two or three days.

"Mm-hmm!" The group nodded.

Wu Heng directly cast [Mordenkainen's Mansion]. The rift and the stone door appeared.

Behind the stone door was a sturdy iron-gray stone wall, filled with turrets, machine guns, and cannons aimed outside.

The bottom level retained a two-meter-tall doorway.

Through the doorway, the inside was visible—spacious and empty, originally intended as a hidden armory.

"It's so empty!" Robe muttered.

Wu Heng looked at them and asked, "What do you need?"

"A bed or chairs, and some lights. Otherwise, it'll be too dark inside."

Wu Heng focused his thoughts, and changes began within.

Carpets covered the floor, massive soft beds appeared, and luxurious chandeliers lit up the space.

Instantly, the empty armory transformed into a modern mansion.

"Anything else?"

"A lawn, a hot spring, and flowers."

Wu Heng nodded, and the room transformed again. One side of the floor became a lawn, and at its end lay a hot spring surrounded by flowers.

The modern house connected seamlessly with the lawn and hot spring.

"How's this?" Wu Heng asked with a smile.

The group's eyes widened. "Wow! You can make all this?"

"Go on in. Once this is over, I'll bring you back out."

Andviel walked over and gave him a hug. "Be careful, Master."

"Mm!"

Minnie hugged him next. "Master, remember we still have Rentam City, so don't take unnecessary risks."

Annette and Robe hesitated awkwardly, standing in place.

Wu Heng opened his arms. "Come on, one hug each."

Annette and Robe walked over and hugged him.

The group entered the mansion, and Wu Heng deactivated the skill, causing the rift and stone door to vanish.

...…

After settling the maids—

Wu Heng reorganized the skeletons in the manor.

The alchemy skeletons and skeleton artificers were sent to the Zombie World.

One-third of the skeletons remained to guard the manor, while the rest, including the Skeleton Prophet, were brought to the guild.

There, Wu Heng and Sheila Grey discussed further actions.

Both led teams outside to participate in investigations and patrols.

Passing by the Nautilus Tavern, Wu Heng called for Philipa and Millicent to join him.

In a secluded area, he opened the Mansion Spell and sent them inside as well.

He then continued patrolling, investigating leads on cultists, and watching for individuals in cloaks, those emitting a corpse stench, or anyone with stiff movements.

He continued until dusk.

Returning to the guild, he rested in the dormitory.

...…

Dormitory, on the bed.

Wu Heng lay with his hands behind his head, reflecting on the day's events.

A newly formed Church of Destiny had made all of Gold-Silver Island dangerous.

The confidence he had built over this period suddenly crumbled by half.

Relying on the Zombie World, he had leveled up quickly, and modern weapons were powerful enough to kill high-level Professionals.

But against a necromancer—

One who lurked in the shadows—it really did feel like being stalked by an enemy.

"The island's intelligence network is far inferior to the Old Barrel."

At this moment, Wu Heng recalled the Old Barrel Tavern.

Back then, under that woman 'Macintosh,' most of the port's intelligence could be gathered.

"Once this is over, I'll see if I can get in touch with her."

"Making her official and giving her the position of a boss shouldn't be a problem."

With these thoughts, he gradually drifted off to sleep.

He entered dreamland.

...…

Lighthouse Street, residential area.

A man in a black cloak darted quickly through the streets, avoiding the patrolling beasts in the sky, before slipping into a dark alley.

After climbing over a courtyard wall and hurrying a short distance—

He entered a courtyard.

The moment he stepped in, several figures emerged from the shadows, looking cautious.

"It's me. Where's Lord Solveig?"

"In the room."

Seeing it was one of their own, the figures returned to the shadows to continue their watch.

The cloaked man shook off his clothes and quickly approached the house, knocking on the door.

"Come in!" a deep voice responded from within.

The man opened the door and entered.

The interior was quite spacious, with a dining table, coffee table, and glass decorations indicating a previously well-off family.

In the inner room, the Church of Destiny's Grand Knight, resembling a dried corpse, sat on the bed.

On the wooden table beside him was a copper stand holding a gray-white jade stone, with a lit candle behind it.

The candlelight passed through the jade stone, casting a circular magic array on the floor.

At the center of the array knelt four figures—both men and women—in a posture of repentance.

Wisps of ghostly blue energy gathered above their heads, forming a fierce, struggling specter in the center.

The Grand Knight 'Solveig' enveloped the specter with necromantic power, and after making it his spirit servant—

He absorbed it into his body.

"How is it?"

Once everything was done, Solveig asked in a deep voice.

The man steadied himself and whispered, "Grand Knight Solveig, the guild's people are conducting door-to-door searches. By tomorrow, we might have to change locations."

Solveig's voice was cold. "I really underestimated them."

Last night's encounter hadn't involved direct combat—

But it had been enough to test the other side's strength and capabilities.

Contrary to the intelligence reports, both the steward and the island master, despite being unusually promoted by the guild,

Were clearly much stronger than level 12.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have failed to kill anyone last night and would have avoided losing several cult members and a spirit servant.

His subordinate quietly warned, "The island's conducting a sweeping search. They likely requested external reinforcements. Should we lay low and wait for a chance to..."

Solveig's voice grew even colder. "Reinforcements? The nearest guild would take four or five days to get here. That's plenty of time for us to have some fun."

"But... with the island's defenses, it might not be so easy."

Solveig stood up, collected the items on the table, and released another spirit servant as he said, "No rush. Let's kill a few of their comrades first and avenge our fallen."
