Chapter 764, Evil Profession
The burly knight suddenly turned and roared at the side.
Wu Heng frowned and turned to look as well.
There was Lilith, her eyes narrowed on them, a cold look on her face. Clearly, she hadn't expected to get dragged into this while just watching the show.
Lilith looked at the burly man and said in a rich voice, "Were you speaking to me?"
"Arrogant brat, and now you dare question me?" the knight growled.
Wu Heng immediately interjected, "She's my honored guest. Keep your business to yourself and don't involve others."
After all, this was the island lord's mansion. Saying nothing would be inappropriate.
"Oh?" The man turned his gaze back to the girl, then at Wu Heng. "Your guest isn't some evil Professional, is she? She should come with us for questioning before being allowed to roam."
Wu Heng glanced at him—pretty good guess.
Step step step~!
Lilith stood up and calmly walked forward.
"You want to arrest me?"
Seeing her dare approach, the man shot up too. His massive frame loomed like a mountain. "One more word, and I'll—"
Before he could finish, Lilith casually waved her pale finger.
In the next second, his mouth began shrinking, until no words could escape.
He touched his face and realized—his mouth was gone.
Then his vision blurred—his eyes vanished too.
Mmmph~!
Panic-stricken, he leapt blindly toward where he last saw her, swinging a fist.
Bang~!
A dull thud followed.
His body went flying, crashing into tables and chairs behind.
The bishop's face changed dramatically. Holy light burst forth, but at that moment, a crest-like emblem was tossed his way.
He instinctively tried to dodge but glimpsed the emblem mid-air.
He reached out, caught it, and looked closely.
It was the Governing Leader's Crest from HQ.
Symbol of the ruling authority.
His voice trembled, disbelief thick in his tone, "L-Leader..."
Though he had never been to HQ, as an 18th-level Professional, he'd read about it.
That crest was recorded in Guild tomes—only the ruling leader possessed it.
The burly knight stumbled upright, mouth and eyes gone, but he heard it clearly.
His face turned pale too.
Guild Leader?
Here?
Lilith looked at the bishop, still expressionless. "Your name?"
Cold sweat poured from his forehead. "Dek Gavin."
Lilith nodded and sat back on the sofa. "It's the first time someone's insulted and attacked a leader. Think Saidu will come after me if I kill you both?"
"This..." The bishop's sweat flowed freely. "Please, have mercy, Leader."
There was only one woman who held the ruling title—and she didn't get along with the Church.
Attacking first gave her the perfect excuse.
Lilith calmly said, "Take him to HQ for punishment."
With another flick of her finger—
The bishop's mouth disappeared too. All he could do was whimper.
"Prepare to leave."
The bishop couldn't respond but gently set the crest on the table, then helped the burly man out.
They'd arrived full of arrogance. Now they left cautiously.
Once outside, Robe followed and shut the door firmly.
Outside the mansion, the bishop and knight pulled up their hoods.
Supporting each other, they walked toward a waiting carriage.
"Where to next, Bishop?" a cleric asked quietly.
A hand extended from the window, pointing toward the Church.
The cleric nodded. "Back to the Church."
The carriage rolled forward slowly.
Inside, fear still lingered in the bishop's eyes. The knight's face was grim.
They had come to pressure their host, to flex power.
Instead, they were humiliated.
How was a Guild Leader in Wu Heng's mansion on Gold-Silver Island?
Wasn't he supposed to have no backing?
Dammit!
The knight kept coughing—without a mouth, blood oozed from his nose.
The bishop cast Holy Word to stabilize his condition.
The knight pulled out paper and wrote, "That was really the Leader? Lilith?"
The bishop tried to write back, but his mouth was sealed and the knight couldn't see. So he traced in the man's palm, "Should be her."
"What do we do now?"
The bishop wrote, "Write to Leader Saidu first, then head to HQ for punishment."
Silence fell again.
Regret and bitterness filled both their hearts.
They came in hot and left in shame—with no gain.
Saving face was one thing, but punishment from HQ could be severe.
And now, with their current state, they couldn't stop the troop reduction on the island.
Only Leader Saidu might turn things around.
The rest of the ride passed in silence.
The carriage headed toward the Church.
...…
Island Lord's Mansion.
After they left, Wu Heng looked at Lilith calmly sipping tea.
Her expression unchanged, as if nothing had happened.
He honestly thought she'd kill one of them.
From what he saw in the banished one's memories, Lilith could be brutal.
Seemed she still gave the Church some face—or maybe didn't want to stir trouble over something so petty.
Probably for the best. A corpse would've been a hassle.
"Thanks for helping me out," Wu Heng said.
Sure, it was the knight who provoked her—
But pleasantries paved the way for future favors.
Lilith asked, "Why'd you allow the Church to build here?"
"Sigh~" Wu Heng sighed first, then explained how the Church's leader had forcibly bought property and set up shop while he was away.
His tone was a little aggrieved, like the locals were taken advantage of.
Like it all happened behind his back.
Lilith listened, her face still calm. "So your troop limit decree was aimed at them?"
Wu Heng quickly denied it. "No, it was to rein in local gangs. This used to be a pirate island—people form factions easily. Didn't expect such a big reaction from the Church."
Lilith gave him a glance, then turned to her old attendant. "Find a building on the island. Establish a Grey Saint Church."
"Yes, Miss," the old man replied.
Oh, come on!
Another one?
What the hell is my island turning into?
Two rival Churches? Total chaos!
Wu Heng said, "No need to buy. We're expanding. I'll reserve a good spot for you—can't let the Church outdo us. People might think we're weaker."
"Mm~" Lilith nodded in satisfaction. "I'll wait for your update."
"No problem," Wu Heng quickly changed the subject. "Minnie, is the cinema ready?"
"All set," Minnie replied.
"Leader Lilith, sir—shall we enjoy a film? Let's not let rude people ruin your mood," Wu Heng gestured politely.
"Alright." Lilith nodded.
Wu Heng led the way. Lilith and her attendant followed into the screening room.
They sat in the selected seats.
Minnie started the film. Wu Heng sat next to Lilith and explained, "This is a movie. It's scripted, and the scenes are all pre-recorded. No need to be alarmed."
Lilith glanced at him, waved her hand as if to say, "I know."
Wu Heng said no more. The movie began.
As the sound and visuals kicked in, Lilith flinched slightly. But seeing no reaction from Wu Heng or the maids, she kept watching.
Guild.
Sheila Grey returned from patrol, removed her helmet, and let out a deep breath.
She adjusted the air conditioning a bit lower. "Any word from Wu Heng?"
Shiyali brought her a cool tea. "Nothing since he got back."
Sheila sat at her desk.
Shiyali leaned on the armrest and whispered, "Sis, you think she'll use her Leader status to force Wu Heng into something?"
"Like what?"
"A boy toy."
