Chapter 104 - Prologue- After a long wait.

Emily's POV:

- …Another boring afternoon.

I look out the window. The only thing I can see is a pile of ruins I've seen countless times. Houses whose memories now only remain in my mind and are slowly fading away. Despite this, I continue to stay in this place. I impatiently await his arrival.

- …You're taking your time, Mr. Hero.

My tired knees begin to complain. My back groans in discontent as I tear my gaze away from the window. There I see a rocking chair that I hate so much. I stare coldly at the chair, wondering whether to destroy it or not.

- I really hate you.

I walk over to it and lie down. I immediately feel the relief and comfort it gives me, and I can't help but hate it even more. My rebellious knees immediately calm down as my back finds the perfect position.

"I can't believe I've become this pathetic."

I slowly rock the chair as I get lost in my thoughts. The way I live right now can only be described as pathetic. Lying in that chair, trying to quiet my restless limbs, only makes the soft comfort it offers more irritating. I stare at the door, patiently waiting for a call that will never come. Even though I knew it, I didn't really want to give up at this point. Now that a good season had finally begun, I eagerly awaited its arrival.

- Looks like I won't have any luck today either…

A light drowsiness washes over me as the chair's softness slowly envelops me. I look up at the ceiling, hoping for some sign that my wait won't be in vain.

*knock knock*

Then, a sound illusion strikes my ears.

"How many times is that now?"

As if trying to silence the illusion, I start rocking the chair harder. Its creaking ends the horrible silence that reigned in the room.

*knock knock*

..But there it was again. It seems that killing the silence in the room hadn't been enough to eliminate the illusion. I can't help but sigh in resignation.

- Excuse me, is anyone there?!

—!

I jump up. I instinctively look toward the door. All my senses are focused on the old wooden door in front of me.

- Is someone here?!

The shout is louder this time. There was no doubt it wasn't an illusion. But that wasn't all I felt.

"This… This energy! There's no doubt about it, this energy came from a spirit."

A smile lit up my face as I lunged at it like an animal. With lightning speed, I launched myself toward the door, palm outstretched. I focused my power into it as I went to welcome the long-awaited guest at my doorstep.

- Welcome to your death, hero!

An instant later, the old wooden door my hand touched disintegrated into black specks.
