Chapter 786 - Chapter 662: Orianna's "Anticipation"

Chapter 662: Orianna's "Anticipation"

Bang!

A heavy, forceful strike tore another hole in the back of the Legendary Catachan Demon.

Missing its sneak attack, Evilfang crashed back to the ground under increased gravitational pull.

The violent impact left it dizzy.

The sharp pain from its back snapped it back to awareness.

With just flight and gravity suppression, Yaya left Evilfang completely helpless, forced to take hits passively.

Its once mighty body had become a burden, utterly ineffective at this moment.

Evilfang stared fixedly at Yaya, who hovered 30 meters above the ground again, calculating how to provoke her into using more abilities.

But Yaya, as if seeing through its thoughts, simply continued hurling armor-piercing spears, opening more bleeding wounds on the massive beast.

Other attacks?

Completely unnecessary!

Yaya always remembered Matthew's teachings on combat.

Fighting was like playing cards.

Whoever had the bigger hand held the advantage.

Whoever had more trump cards could break deadlocks over and over.

If your opponent couldn't counter your cards yet, then wait for them to make a move—or keep making them bleed.

Once you've found their weakness—

Continue pressing the attack while expanding their wounds.

This was going to be a long war. Yaya was well-prepared but also very conservative with her trump cards.

"The territory's been feeding me all this time, it's about time I showed them their food wasn't wasted..."

A somewhat "odd" thought flashed through Yaya's mind.

Not finding it odd at all, she kept a sharp eye on her surroundings, alert for any hidden ambushes.

But aside from the dying firelight, a forest charred to cinders, and the wailing Catachan Demon, there was nothing else.

Seeing the charge level rise to 41%, Orianna hesitated, then whispered into Yaya's ear:

"We have 16 minutes left in this fight. They're still waiting for support on the other side."

Yaya just blinked lightly at this.

Watching the curled-up, passive Legendary Demon, she could clearly sense it was baiting an attack.

"Hah, you think just taking hits is gonna save you?"

"Wishful thinking!"

A massive spear appeared in Yaya's hands.

The spearhead, over 4 meters wide, was barbed like a trident.

The shaft, as thick as an adult's thigh, radiated complex and dazzling magical light.

This was the Gray Dwarf Prince Krezel's tribute to Yaya—the legendary Gray Dwarf treasure: the Legendary Dragonfang Spear!

Sensing danger, Evilfang felt a lock-on on its back.

The dangerous attack it had hoped for had finally come!

But before it could act, the gravitational force intensified far beyond its limits.

In an instant, its curled-up body was completely immobilized.

Even if only for a moment!

Crack!

The sound of breaking exoskeleton echoed through Evilfang's mind.

The cold and terrifying Dragon Spear emitted a crushing pressure that numbed its entire body.

It could only watch helplessly as the lethal spear plunged into its back.

Shkkk!

The blood-soaked spearhead burst out from its chest, brutally impaling its twisted body.

Torn muscle and shredded organs spilled out with the gushing blood.

Thick blood slid down the spearhead, never staining it.

Just as the spear pierced through Evilfang's chest, it began rotating and yanked backward.

The barbed teeth of the blade bit into its chest and hauled it upward.

Still overwhelmed with pain, Evilfang realized in horror that the ground was rapidly receding.

Unspeakable panic, mixed with agony, flooded its mind.

It thrashed wildly, trying to claw at the ground.

But it was too late. The paralysis and the crushing force from the Dragon Spear left only deep gouges where its claws scraped.

Its entire body was lifted skyward by the spear lodged in its chest.

Enduring the agony, Evilfang twisted its neck wildly.

In a desperate, self-injuring wrench, it saw what lay behind.

A chain thicker than the spear itself connected to its tail end—and the other end was gripped in Yaya's claws.

Flapping effortlessly, Yaya pulled its entire body upward, ascending into higher skies.

Evilfang stared in terror at the shrinking earth, thrashing madly—but unable to break Yaya's lifting force.

The impact point was just out of reach of both its claws and jaws.

The more it struggled, the deeper the barbs dug into its chest, and the more intense the pain.

Even Evilfang's fangs were useless against the spear's material.

Fear began to take root in its heart as it curled up, unsure where the next danger would come from.

Under the soldiers' gaze, Yaya carried Evilfang higher and higher until they pierced through the clouds.

As the air turned cold and its body began to stiffen, the ground was lost behind a sea of clouds.

Yaya glanced at the 3,000-meter altitude, gave a mischievous grin, and let go of the chain.

Then, with a quick spin, she dove downward.

Evilfang, now plummeting, could only watch Yaya fly past.

It flailed and twisted in panic but couldn't fight gravity as it plunged downward.

The wild, uncontrolled fall was a brand-new sensation to Evilfang.

Residual blood surged into its head.

Its thoughts became clearer, faster than ever, yet utterly powerless to change its fate.

Its body twitched involuntarily, as though it no longer belonged to it.

The once-soft air turned into claws, ripping at its wounds.

Soon, its falling speed hit terminal velocity.

Gravity and air resistance found their brutal balance.

And then—a heavier force descended.

Yaya, waiting midair, released a fresh surge of gravitational pressure onto it.

Evilfang accelerated even more, diving toward the ground.

A crisp shout faintly echoed in its ears:

"Secret Technique — Gravity Inversion!"

Struggling in freefall, Evilfang saw the earth rush toward it and instinctively curled up.

And then it hit.

Evilfang clearly felt its body compress downward, only to be repelled by the soft earth.

The impact drove its lower body upward, colliding with its own downward force in a brutal clash.

Two opposing forces erupted within its frame.

Crackle!

Its exoskeleton shattered like dry wood.

Jagged fragments turned into blades, piercing deep into its flesh.

Its painfully clear consciousness turned to mush the moment its skull slammed into the ground.

BOOM!!

The earth-shaking explosion rippled outward.

The entire ground trembled, dust roared skyward.

Jagged cracks clawed outward.

The scorched trees nearby were torn into splinters.

Witnessing it all, the onlookers swallowed nervously as tremors swept past their feet.

Blackshell the dragon turtle shrank his neck and muttered:

"That must've hurt like hell."

As the dust cleared, a massive crater was revealed.

At its center, the bloodied Legendary Catachan Demon squirmed faintly.

The grotesque beast wasn't dead yet—its resilience on full display.

Swish!

Another black short spear flew in, piercing straight into Evilfang's skull.

Its broken exoskeleton couldn't resist the powerful strike, and the spear sank into its scrambled brain.

Evilfang's mind vanished. Its mangled head slammed heavily into the ground.

Its massive body still writhed desperately.

Yaya looked away, slightly disappointed—she hadn't lured out any hidden enemies.

Even so, she didn't approach the demon's corpse immediately.

She kept throwing spears, pinning its joints in place.

Only after most of its body was immobilized did she flap over.

Casting a quick Cleanse spell, Yaya grabbed the chain with a claw and began lifting the limp demon.

The dozen-ton behemoth floated effortlessly as she dragged it.

The air filled with the stench of blood; chunks of viscera and thick gore dripped onto the trees and fallen leaves, sizzling with corrosive hisses.

Excited Oriana, recalling Yaya's fierce yet unadorned attack combo, exclaimed passionately:

"Yaya, your control over gravity is getting more and more refined."

"Next time, I'll keep refining our results and add this ability in."

Glancing at the remaining support time, Yaya maintained the "Gravity Reduction" on the Legendary Catachan Demon, and nodded expectantly:

"Yah! This could really work, but we might need to ask Teacher for help..."

"Teacher charges a lot, super stingy..."

Oriana held back a laugh and quickly got to recording and thinking.

In her little head, sparks of inspiration were flying all over.

Boom!

The massive body of the Legendary Catachan Demon was flung onto the open space behind the outpost.

The heavy impact made the ground tremble slightly.

Yaya didn't say a word. Amid the soldiers' enthusiastic cheers, she flapped her wings and soared high, diving back into the cloud layer.

The butchers from various outposts rushed over, gleaming knives in hand, excited by the sight of the limp corpse of the Legendary Catachan Demon.

Haigs didn't bother watching the scene of the demon being "processed." He kept his focus on the twisted monsters.

These grotesque creatures, too, scattered in all directions following the death of the Legendary Catachan Demon.

Although some were still stubborn, to the morale-boosted outpost soldiers, they were no longer a real threat.

He looked up at the clouds, a deep emotion rising in his heart:

"I must train even harder in the future, to be able to help Lady Yaya in battle!"

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Violent gusts of wind blew.

But those bone-piercing chills curved around Yaya.

Flying unhindered, Yaya kept accelerating forward, freely displaying her speed.

The Catachan Plane was different from the Material Plane.

In this enclosed domain, Yaya could fully unleash her power without worrying about being watched.

Of course, this was also part of the plan.

When only 5 minutes remained on the support countdown, Yaya had already crossed nearly 200 kilometers, arriving at the mission destination.

Yaya didn't reveal herself immediately. She remained hidden in the clouds, using her extraordinary vision to scout the battlefield from afar.

Countless twisted monsters were being herded by a wave of enormous plants, launching a fierce attack on the Catachan Tribe's city.

There were many twisted monsters, most of them large and brutal predators.

The smaller ones had already been devoured by the now-living forest, becoming appetizers before the feast.

Dense vines and towering trees clumped together like living creatures.

Yaya could clearly feel that their life forms were undergoing some kind of eerie transformation.

"They're very likely evolving into treant-like beings..."

"But the transformation is too rapid, rushed and forced—they're doomed to never form proper will or thought..."

"Still, this proves the plants in Catachan's jungle have serious potential..."

"Ordinary plants can't withstand the magical upheaval caused by the merging..."

"Or maybe, this is what the mastermind wants—to create threats with no future, disposable cannon fodder."

The now much more experienced Yaya could sharply analyze the origins and traits of these monsters and accurately assess their strength.

The more she understood, the more confidently she could devise tactics.

This particular Catachan Tribe was massive.

The city they built encircled a giant mountain.

On 12-meter-high walls stood battle-hardened Catachan warriors.

Over 20 enormous watchtowers boomed with magical artillery from Bay Territory.

Spinning shells flew forward, slamming into the horde of twisted monsters with a thunderous boom.

The impacted monsters instantly burst apart.

The bouncing shells kept discharging their destructive force, pulverizing everything in their path.

Even with the help of magical artillery, the extensive walls placed immense pressure on the Catachan defenders.

Occasionally, piled-up monsters would trample their comrades' corpses, struggling to climb up the walls.

Though the Catachan warriors were powerful and equipped with magical weapons and armor traded from Bay Territory—

—they still couldn't stop the relentless tide of twisted monsters.
