Both saints figures were like frozen statues of light and shadow in his vision.
Shen Yi's eyes glowed faintly. "Too slow."
He raised a single finger and flicked it lightly, releasing invisible soul lightning toward them.
Crack!
The next moment, their bodies cracked and exploded into ash and disappeared into nothing, their souls destroyed before they could even scream. The whole fight lasted less than three seconds.
Hun Mo's smile completely vanished. His bony hands clenched as the air behind him twisted violently.
"Spiritual power mixed in pure thunder power?" His voice trembled with shock and extreme fear. "Impossible… such a combination of power can never exist!"
Shen Yi stared at him playfully, replying with a cold smile. "And yet, here I am."
"I can't let you grow up."
Hun Mo roared, his soul forming behind him… a huge black ghost materialized with burning eyes and twisting tendrils of spirit fire. The desert itself screamed as the pressure pushed down, forcing Zi Yan to move back a hundred meters.
The old man pushed both palms forward toward him.
"Soul-Severing Abyss!"
The ghost copied his movement, unleashing a storm of dark red beams… each one strong enough to tear apart a Dou Saint's soul. They came together on Shen Yi like a dying star collapsing.
Shen Yi didn't move, just raising his right hand slowly, and the dense golden temporal thunder flared across his arm as he aimed his finger in the direction of Hun Mo.
Golden lightning poured out, forming a shining large arm, hand, and pointing finger around him. When the red storm collided with the finger, the whole world exploded into light.
BOOOOOOM!!!
Sand turned to glass; the very fabric of space cracked and folded. Yet, within the blinding explosion, Shen Yi stood calmly; the attacks that hit him moved in slow motion… each beam slowly crawling through twisted time.
Then he whispered.
"Primordial Finger! Reversal!"
A wave of invisible lightning spread from him… containing deadly silent lightning, pure spiritual power; it merged with the large fingers, even twisting and absorbing the power of the red beam released by Hun Mo.
The next moment, all the beams' direction reversed, surging back towards Hun Mo.
Hun Mo's eyes widened in disbelief as his own attack turned against him.
"Impossible!"
He screamed in horror, quickly putting up soul shields, but it was useless. The attack hit him, blowing up his soul ghost into pieces.
The old Saint's body twisted, burned by pure spiritual lightning. He coughed black blood, his power quickly disappearing.
Shen Yi floated closer, his face cold and uncaring, looking at him expressionlessly as if watching an ant.
"Hun Mo… guardian of the Hall of Souls," he said softly. "You should have stayed hidden."
He raised his hand; the space around Hun Mo froze solid… sound, movement, and even thought trapped in stillness. Then a thin line of light cut through the old man's forehead. No scream followed. His body and soul silently turned into glowing dust.
When the last spark faded, only a faint breeze remained.
Shen Yi lowered his hand; the heavy feeling instantly disappeared, leaving the desert strangely quiet again.
Zi Yan finally breathed out, her tense shoulders relaxing as she flew up beside him.
She looked at the spot where the Saints had stood moments ago for a while in a daze, then her violet eyes widened with disbelief. "You… killed three Dou Saints… Just like that."
Shen Yi turned slightly, looked at her, and then shook his head as the golden lightning receded from the void behind him.
"I warned them," he said simply. "Anyway, people like them don't accept the simple truth until death knocks on their doors."
Then a faint smile on his lips, "Let's go. We've wasted enough time here."
Zi Yan nodded quickly, glancing once more at the broken space above before following him.
As the two figures disappeared into a ripple in space, the desert became silent once more… Only the faint echo of thunder lingered in the wind and tiny void cracks indicating that some unimaginable forces collided in this place.
…
They traveled east for three hours, moving like silent blurs across the empty land. They went over sand dunes, broken cliffs, and fields of burned stone where old animals had fought and died.
The sun began to set, painting the sky in gold and purple. The air felt heavy with the feeling of space energy.
Zi Yan slowed down. A faint beat echoed through her body… deep, old, and familiar. Her pupils brightened.
"We're close," she said softly. "I can feel the entrance."
Shen Yi looked at her. The faint dragon energy coming from her bloodline was connecting with something far away… something huge.
He followed her gaze, looking in the direction in front.
Far ahead, where the sky met the land, the desert seemed to curve inward. The air shimmered in a strange way. Space moved like water hit by invisible waves.
As they got closer, the strange movement grew stronger, showing a huge swirling tunnel hanging between two mountains of dark, shiny crystal. Inside that tunnel, pieces of another world sparkled… floating islands, rivers of light, and shadows of giant dragons moving through mist.
The air itself trembled. Even Shen Yi felt a slight push back from space, as if the place was testing if he had the right to come closer.
Zi Yan looked softer. Her eyes changed into narrow golden slits as she spread her arms a little. "I'm home; this is the eastern dragon island," she whispered.
A burst of purple-gold dragon energy shot out from her body, twisting up into the sky. The swirling tunnel reacted right away… the moving clouds of space energy slowed down, became steady, and then opened up like a blooming flower.
A deep, loud roar echoed from inside.
"Who dares to call on the blood of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan!"
The voice was like thunder… old and proud.
