The carriage skidded to a sudden halt at her words, and Thorn's figure lunged forward, completely caught by surprise.
Elora reacted quickly and held him back against the seat with the press of her palm.
"What happened?! Why did we suddenly stop?" Thorn asked in a slightly raised voice as soon as he caught his breath.
"We're making a quick stop here."
Her words came out colder than intended.
Thorn followed her line of sight and saw the familiar building structure and statue depicting the Lord of Light holding a book in one hand and a sword in the other.
"The church," Thorn muttered, his voice filled with revulsion.
A deep frown curled his lips as he stared at the pristine white building as though it were a maggot-infested room.
"I need to investigate some matters."
Elora wondered how the church had managed to hide those children.
