While the others dispersed, Dace made his way to the command room of the outer fortress. He had resumed his post as the Head of the Guard.
Dace was a Legendary level warrior now. To return to guard duty might seem a demotion to some, but to him, it was a calling higher than any crusade. He was Orion's shield. He was the sole survivor of the original guard.
In the Stoneheart Horde, he was the First Sentinel. He had a legacy to maintain.
Orion had given him a new mandate: to forge the next generation of protectors. In the future, every Giant Prince would come to Dace to receive a guard worthy of their station.
