"Roman, watch out!" Violet warned desperately through the bond.
But there was no response.
"Stop already, you idiot!" Alaric shouted out loud as if Roman could somehow hear him from that distance.
"Something's wrong," Asher muttered, his eyes narrowing immediately.
What none of them realized was that Roman had pushed himself far beyond his limit. Right now, the dragon was no longer flying with control.
He was falling.
"He's fucking exhausted!" Griffin shouted in alarm just as Roman's dragon eyes finally slid shut in surrender and his massive body crashed directly into the dome. Electricity exploded across the barrier on contact.
"Roman!" Violet's heart clenched painfully as the enormous dragon recoiled from the shock before sliding helplessly down the dome and crashing heavily outside the academy walls.
But it was not merely Roman collapsing that terrified her. It was what waited outside.
The zombies.
