Aboard a Mist Village Warship
In the cabin of one of the Mist Village warships, Ao suddenly opened his eyes, his expression dark and foreboding.
Next to him, a fellow Mist Jōnin immediately noticed and asked, "What's wrong, Ao?"
Ao, as the only ninja in the Mist Village possessing the Byakugan, was entrusted with critical missions. His unique ability to see through and scout made him an invaluable asset, especially in crucial operations such as this one.
This time, his sole task was to use the Byakugan's telescopic and penetrating vision to monitor everything within a kilometer radius, ensuring the mission went smoothly.
But now, his grim expression raised alarm bells.
Ao responded tersely, "Our movements may have been exposed."
"What?"
Despite his premonition, the other Jōnin couldn't help but be startled. This mission had been meticulously prepared with all information tightly sealed. How could it suddenly be compromised?
"What exactly happened?" the Jōnin asked, steadying his nerves.
Ao shook his head. "I'm not sure. I only spotted Uchiha Seimei in the sky, but that's all I know."
"Uchiha Seimei?"
The Jōnin moved to the window, peering outside as though hoping to catch a glimpse of something unusual.
Ao stopped him. "No need to look. He's already gone. The priority now is to report this to the captain and decide on our next steps."
Realizing the urgency, the Jōnin abandoned his curiosity. After instructing Ao to continue his surveillance, he swiftly left the cabin.
Left alone, Ao's expression turned contemplative. After a moment, he murmured to himself, "Something's different..."
This time, when Ao observed Seimei, the chakra flow within him seemed markedly different from what he had seen two days prior. His curiosity deepened.
Without hesitation, Ao reached into his pouch and retrieved a sealed scroll.
Unfurling it with a puff of smoke, he revealed several old books—worn and aged, clearly bearing the marks of time.
These were no ordinary texts. Over the past two days, Ao had utilized village resources to gather books related to the Uchiha clan.
With care, he picked one up and began flipping through the pages.
The cabin grew quiet except for the soft rustle of paper. In no time, Ao was fully engrossed, while outside, events continued to unfold.
On Deck
As the Jōnin reported to the captain, the response was swift. Not long after, the Mist fleet accelerated.
The decision was clear—they would no longer concern themselves with stealth. Speed became the priority. They aimed to reach their target swiftly and strike before the Leaf Village forces could mount a proper defense.
However, no matter how fast the Mist fleet moved, they couldn't match Seimei's speed.
Fifteen Minutes Later: Blackstone Outpost
Seimei landed at the Blackstone Outpost without pause, heading straight for the command room.
Bang!
He pushed the doors open with force.
The unexpected sound startled the Leaf Jōnin on duty, who looked up in surprise, ready to reprimand whoever dared barge in.
But upon seeing Seimei's grave expression, they immediately sensed the severity of the situation.
"What happened, Seimei?" one of them asked.
Seimei wasted no time. "Contact Captain Sano at once. The Mist forces from Flying Fish Town are advancing via the sea to attack."
"What?!"
The Jōnin were visibly shaken.
Their disbelief was palpable. The Mist forces, bypassing the land route to launch a naval attack, was a move no one had anticipated.
Yet Seimei's serious tone left no room for doubt.
One of the Jōnin quickly collected himself. "I'll notify the captain immediately and alert the other Jōnin."
Another added, "I'll gather reinforcements. The eastern defenses aren't sufficient; we'll need to strengthen them right away."
The room quickly emptied as everyone rushed to take action.
Soon, the entire outpost buzzed with activity.
Seimei stayed behind, knowing Captain Sano would want to hear the full details directly from him.
Sure enough, just minutes later, Captain Sano Nobuhisa arrived.
"What's the situation, Seimei?" Sano asked, his tone urgent.
Seimei relayed everything he had seen, sticking strictly to the facts.
There was no need to voice his speculations—Sano would already be thinking along the same lines.
As Seimei finished his report, Sano nodded gravely. "It seems the Mist had this planned for a while."
After a pause, he added, "Fortunately, we've maintained some defensive presence on the eastern front. Otherwise, this could've been disastrous."
Sano's words were no exaggeration.
While the focus of the Blackstone Outpost had shifted inland after Flying Fish Town fell, the eastern coastal defenses had not been entirely abandoned.
Thanks to Seimei's timely report, there was now just enough time to strengthen their defenses.
This foresight not only averted a potential disaster but also saved countless lives.
Sano glanced at Seimei, his expression conflicted.
Just two days ago, he had been frustrated by Seimei's refusal to follow his suggestion of drawing the Mist's attention as a diversion. Now, the same ninja had delivered a critical warning, thwarting the Mist's plans.
It was a humbling moment.
"Captain?"
Seimei's voice broke his thoughts. "Do you have any further instructions?"
Sano composed himself. "Yes. Leave the outpost to us. I need you to return to the skies and monitor the Mist's movements. Relay any changes immediately."
"Understood," Seimei replied. "Have Yamanaka Aoi link with me for communication."
Aoi, a skilled sensor from the Yamanaka clan stationed at the outpost, was the perfect choice for relaying information.
While Seimei had his own abilities for communication, he preferred to keep certain cards close to his chest.
"Very well," Sano agreed. "I'll inform him. Now, go!"
With a nod, Seimei disappeared in a blur, reappearing moments later in the sky with the help of his Wind Release: Wings of the Wind.
