Unfortunately, the image inside the purple crystal ball lasted for less than a second before the entire crystal ball suddenly shattered.
At the very moment it exploded, the black-haired woman named Yunzi seemed to suffer a heavy blow from some unknown force. Her body was thrown backward, and she spat out a large mouthful of blood. Her already pale face turned even more deathly white.
"He… is someone who cannot be seen."
Yunzi collapsed to the ground, clutching her chest and gasping for breath. After uttering those words, she fainted.
"How is that possible? Yunzi is a mid-level spiritualist. No matter how strong that person is, he should at most be a mid-level Psychic. Yet she couldn't even glimpse him through divination!"
A blonde woman nearby hurried over to support Yunzi. After confirming that she had merely fainted and wasn't seriously injured, she let out a sigh of relief, though her face was filled with disbelief.
"Tch, what a troublesome target. Captain, what do we do now? Yunzi said he's someone who cannot be divined. That means mystical methods like divination are useless for finding him."
The green-haired man stood up, glanced coldly at the unconscious Yunzi, then turned to the burly man and asked.
"The mission must be completed. Since Yunzi's methods won't work, we'll switch to technological means."
"Lusen, contact the Information Department. Get them to help us locate him. The Trainer who obtained Zapdos calls himself Raiden Suzuki. It's obviously a fake name, but if we can find any visual records of him, we should be able to trace some clues."
The burly man paused briefly in thought before giving his orders.
"Understood. I'll handle it now."
Lusen nodded and immediately took out a uniquely designed communicator, dialing a number from his contact list.
Soon, he got in touch with someone from the Hoenn League Headquarters Information Department. After explaining the situation, the other side began their investigation.
However, half an hour passed. Yunzi regained consciousness, yet Lusen and the others still received no information. Their expressions gradually turned grim.
Another ten minutes later, the burly man's communicator finally rang—but instead of intelligence, it carried a command:
Terminate the mission.
After relaying the order, the atmosphere among the four grew heavy. All of them showed deep unwillingness in their eyes.
"Raiden Suzuki… It's been a long time since we've encountered prey as interesting as you. We'll remember you."
The four exchanged glances, each thinking roughly the same thing.
...….
Meanwhile, Sato had already set up a campsite beside a small river along Route 117. He had just received good news from Professor Oak, putting him in an excellent mood.
"Who's sneaking around over there? Come out!"
Just as he was about to remove the Ditto human-skin mask from his face, Sato suddenly frowned. Turning toward a large tree about a hundred meters away, he shouted sharply.
"As expected of Mr. Raiden Suzuki. I had only just approached within a hundred meters, and you already noticed me. Just as the intel said—you truly are a powerful Psychic."
The next moment, a black-robed figure wearing a ghost-faced mask slowly stepped out from behind the tree, speaking in a mocking tone.
As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly crossed dozens of meters in an instant, appearing directly in front of Sato.
"You're a Psychic too… No, that's not right. I didn't sense any psychic fluctuations from you just now—you can't be a Psychic."
Sato's expression turned serious. His hands tightened around two PokeBalls he had just taken from his belt.
"Hehehe… If I were a true Psychic, that would be wonderful. Unfortunately, I'm not as fortunate as you."
"I'm only able to do that thanks to this little guy. Take a look—his psychic talent isn't bad, right?"
The black-robed man chuckled and continued in a strange tone.
Then, a Pokémon with feathers different from a normal Natu appeared on his shoulder, staring at Sato with malicious intent.
"A shiny Natu… You're quite lucky. Did you use it to find me?"
Sato's face changed slightly. After discreetly scanning it with his system, he spoke.
From the scan, he learned that this shiny Natu possessed a unique ability called Seer, which greatly enhanced its power to foresee the future.
Sato immediately deduced that the black-robed man had likely tracked him using this powerful precognitive ability.
At the same time, under his silent command, a Kecleon perched on his shoulder quietly crawled down his body, slipping toward the ground to circle behind the enemy.
"Heh… Mr. Raiden Suzuki, as a Psychic, you should understand Psychic-type Pokémon well. That little trick of yours won't escape my notice."
"But you're wrong. I didn't find you using this little fellow. While its future-sight ability is strong, you are… special. It simply doesn't work on you."
"So, to track you down, I had to borrow a better helper from home. Thanks to him, I was able to find you. Come out—say hello."
Before Kecleon could complete its ambush, the black-robed man suddenly laughed, his eyes full of amusement.
In the next instant, the grass beneath Kecleon grew wildly, wrapping around it and binding it tightly.
Immediately after, a small, light-green Pokémon flew out from a nearby patch of dense grass. It circled in the air a few times before stopping between the two, its gaze fixed firmly on Sato—whose expression had turned extremely grim.
"You… who exactly are you?"
The moment Sato saw the Pokémon, his face changed drastically. He instantly used Teleport to retreat several meters, his entire body tense as if facing a formidable enemy.
Because the Pokémon that had just appeared—completely evading even his psychic detection—
was none other than the time-traveling Pokémon, the god of the forest:
Celebi.
