"She's fine; she fainted because of exhaustion. Give her some time to wake up," the doctor said as he packed his tools.
Greyson gave a curt nod. Larrisa escorted the doctor out.
He sat beside her on the bed and held Esmeralde's hand.
He gently kissed her hand before whispering against it.
"Why didn't you call me? You could've called or texted me, Emy."
"What do you think made her exhausted?" Larrisa asked as the door clicked closed.
"I'm not sure, but I'd find out," Greyson said as he stared at Emy's pale face.

"That son of a bitch. He really left." Stefan said as he kicked the footstool.
Erica rolled her eyes as she looked down on him from the stairs.
"You should be happy he left. Weren't you vying for my attention those few months?
She descended from the stairs. Stefan looked at her as she approached him.
She spread her arms; Stefan clenched his teeth and embraced her.
"I've missed this," he murmured against her neck.
"Mmm,"
Fuck Alex.
Stefan was glad he was out of the country.
He had his woman's attention all to himself.
-
Both of them sat across from each other in the living room.
Alex fidgeted with his fingers.
"So.. how old is the baby?"
"Three and a half months."
"I see," he said, nodding.
The silence stretched in the room.
"That's all?" Avery raised a brow at him.
"I mean, we can start shopping for baby clothes. The sooner the better."
Avery stood up from her seat.
This man.
She can't believe she married this man.
"The baby's only three and a half months old, and you're already talking about shopping."
The sooner the better, he said.
"I'm sorry, but what do you expect me to say? I'm trying to process what is happening. I'm trying to know where I went wrong and didn't protect you. We have someone else coming to this world, and we're here arguing."
Avery's eyes blurred as she looked at him.
Damn it.
She refused to cry.
Not now.
" I don't wanna argue with you, Alex. But it hurts me. You hurt me. You should've believed me when I first told you about her. But no. You fucking doubted me, and now you're here. How the fuck do you want me to process everything now?"
Alex closed the distance between them. He placed his hands on her arms.
" Please let me in. Please let me be useful to you. Please... give me another chance. If I fail you again, if I doubt you again, then you leave me for you. But please... not now."
Tears streamed down his face.
Avery stared at him.
God...
She'd never seen him cry.
Her own tears slipped free before she could stop them.
