I woke up slowly the next morning. The birds were chirping outside, and soft morning sunlight was coming through the window into my room. But as soon as I opened my eyes, my chest felt heavy, like someone had put a big stone right on my heart.
"Urghmm…"
I let out a tired groan. Now that Alaric was dead and Lyra had finally moved on, it was time for me to do the same. I needed to move on from all of that and focus on my life and my mission as the hero of darkness — Zero.
I looked down. Beta, my feral woman with cat ears and a fluffy tail, was sleeping naked on my chest. Her warm body was pressed against me, and she was snoring softly.
*Snor* *snor*
"After all that tiring stuff that happened, all I needed was a good sleep," I thought to myself. "But Beta didn't let me rest at all…"
