"So I guess you are not going to say anything that you have lost one of your loves?" Eliza said in a solid, commanding tone as she walked closer to me.
The blood kept pooling beneath me. Alpha lay almost dead in my arms. Her pulse was way too low — so weak it felt like an ant was breathing inside the body of an adult. Her pink hair was messy and stained with blood and dust. Her face looked peaceful, but I could barely feel any life left in her.
"One gone. Now it will be you. Then one by one, I will take down all of your shadow mystics… Zero," Eliza said, telling me clearly what would happen if I didn't comply with her.
"Shut up!" I said flatly.
She stopped mid-step. Her eyes narrowed toward me. For a full minute, she really stayed quiet. The only sounds around us were the crackling flames and distant sirens.
*Grrr… Thud*
Flames flew up around us. A piece of concrete ceiling somewhere nearby cracked and fell with a heavy thud. The silence between us felt deafening.
