Then, suddenly, the mime convulsed—violently enough to rattle the chair across the concrete floor. It came suddenly, to the team's surprise. They thought that, since the mime didn't look human, it wouldn't be affected even when the mask was ripped off.
However, the mime's limbs spasmed, his back arching unnaturally as a guttural choke tore from what used to be his throat. The muscle-like fibers connecting the mask to his half-melted face writhed in panic, tightening as if clinging to life.
Etienne flinched and grabbed Terrius's arm.
"W-what's happening now?"
"Stay back," Terrius said, blocking Etienne with his shoulder.
"He's dying," Allen commented flatly, his eyes fixed on the grotesque display. He glanced at Claude, wanting to ask something.
Seconds later, the mime's body jerked one last time. Then, it stopped moving. Everything, including them, went still.
