Jade's expression froze. For a brief second, he thought he had misheard. Then, his gaze slowly drifted past Eros's shoulder and settled on Athena.
The young woman had gone deathly pale.
Did she hear? Jade wondered.
Athena's lips parted soundlessly as though she wanted to explain herself, but no words came. Instead, her eyes darted between Jade and Eros, growing increasingly frantic.
Seeing her expression, Jade was convinced that she had heard what Eros whispered. But if she did, shouldn't she be questioning Eros about how he knew it? Or did Athena know Eros's ability from the beginning?
But it didn't make sense. Why would she think that way, knowing someone close could read minds?
"...Athena," Jade spoke quietly, yet the heaviness behind his voice was enough to make her flinch. He only intended to ask which team she belonged to.
