Fan Jiaren stayed by Han Zhu's side without leaving, even at night, worried that something might happen to Han Zhu.
Her younger sister Fan Liren had already fallen asleep on an empty bed nearby. Fan Jiaren leaned over the bed, constantly feeling Han Zhu's forehead to confirm she wasn't feverish and checking that she was still breathing, then continued to sleep fitfully.
Any small movement from Han Zhu would make Fan Jiaren immediately lift her head. In the dim light, seeing Han Zhu's open eyes, she joyfully said, "Mom, you're awake?"
"Mom, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere? I'll get the doctor."
Excitedly, Fan Jiaren quickly called the doctor back inside.
Soon the doctor came to check and confirmed Han Zhu was safe, advising her to rest well.
Fan Jiaren collapsed at the bedside, sobbing, "Mom, we don't have Dad anymore, please don't leave us."
"Jiaren." Han Zhu tightly held Fan Jiaren's hand, looking at her daughter's tear-streaked face, her heart wrenched.
