Pushing off his right foot, Michael brandished the Glass Splinter, and headed towards the closet beast on his right, using their momentary paralysis to his advantage, he swiftly aimed at it's neck. The splinter easily cut through the coyote's hide and bit into it until it exited through the otherside.
The sudden action snapped the rest of the beasts out of their daze, causing them to advance towards him with rage and hunger in their blue eyes.
As Michael quickly shifted and headed towards the second coyote, he could see the demon easily crush another, from the corner of his eyes. A part of him was happy to see how easily the two of them were faring against the pack, but it also reminded him, that when this was all over, he would have to face that monster all by himself, so he did his best to conserve his energy and remain out of its way for as longs as he could.
Soon the coyotes caught on to the sudden decrease in their numbers, so their tactics of dealing with their prey quckly shifted, without a single word to one another they each activated their stage two abilities, and pounced on the two without hesitation.
According to Michael's aura detection skill, their second ability allowed for parts of their bodies to be separated into small droplets of water when attacked in any way, which made it quite difficult to hurt them. The skill was not only a defensive one but if used the right way, it could be adjusted and become an insanely aggressive offensive one, allowing the coyote's to attack in such a savage manner that allows them to be purposely attacked, while allowing them to ignore it and continue forward with their own, not only allowing them to land devastating blows on their opponents but also allowing them to disrupt the flow of their opponents fighting style.
The activation of said ability, quickly shifted the tides of the battle against Michael as he struggled to make contact with them, and only recieved blow after blow, till his skin was covered in blood and claw marks.
For the demon rabbit it was an entirely different story, although the coyote's could now avoid the rabbits attacks it didn't matter, because not long after their powers were activated, the rabbit caught on and changed its tactics after a few of it's attacks were avoided. Now it's claws emitted a dangerous heat as it slashed through the water particles where the coyote's pelt should've been, and instead of avoiding the attack unscathed, the coyote's that faced it were now left with deep burn marks that continued to bite into them as they faught.
Michael faught tirelessly while trying to watch the rabbits' movements from the corner of his eye. As his body sustained more and more damage he watched as their numbers dwindled one by one as the demon tore through them effortlessly.
He watched as their numbers decreased from eight, to six, then again to, four and now only two remained, the one before him and the one fighting to avenge it's siblings.
He would've been happy of the sudden shift if it weren't for the looming thought of him being the next target of the demonic beast. So he kept an eye on it, till the coyote it was against was torn to shreds like the rest, and just as it began to shift its focus in their direction he quickly smiled at the beast infront of him and jumped into one of the trees and attempted to hide his presence.
Although he tried his best to hide it, he was still rather new to the concept, so something at the rank of the demon was still able to sense it to some degree. Even with his normal presence being somewhat concealed he still had no way of hiding his daemon mark and the demon rabbit could very easily locate him and satisfy it's hunger. But for now it ignored him and faced the last of it's prey.
Of course the so called battle for dominance turned out to be nothing more than a slaughter show for Michael to watch, as the fight lasted no longer that two minutes.
Michael sat on one of the branches of the tree he hid in, and watched everything unfold in amazement. He could clearly see now what the future held in sight for him as he continued his path of ascension.
He watched as the demon tore through the coyote's body with ease even though it was completely made of water he watched as not only the glow of its eyes shown bright but with his aura detection, he could clearly see its power grow as it defeated and devoured its prey.
Even with everything unfolding infront of him it was hard to believe a harmless little rabbit could become such a disastrous beast, strong enough to take on a whole pack of powerful monsters on it's own. It made him wonder what devastating creatures he would find once he returned to his own realm of existence.
Just as he was thinking this a feint snapping sound could be heard from behind him, causing his head to snap backwards to see what could've caused it, as he did he could feel the demons presence staring in his direction. His body grew cold as if filled his veins were filled with ice. He grew terribly still as he pondered on what his next move should be, should he attempt to run away, or fight it, if so should he fight it head on or try to find some mischievous way to kill it.
All options had their ups and downs, on one hand running away had the highest chance of survival, while killing it could boost his strength tremendously, but that would only be if it didn't kill him instead and he say how fast and strong it was compared the the strom coyote's that were of the same class as him.
His heart was beating loudly in his ears, his thoughts became muffled, adrenaline pumped through his veins, this was life or death, there was no time left to think, he had to act now or die. The knife formed in his hands, his aura began to seep from his body, he swiftly turned to face the demon before him, excitement and fear clashing within him. This was it, it's now or never, the power within him unlocked for him to grow and achieve greater heights than anything he could ever have dreamed, there was no way he would let it end here, not without making the ones that betrayed him and took his dream away from him, pay for their crimes.
He smiled as he faced it, one thought entered his mind as he raised his blade and it began to vibrate with power.
'Your turn to be the prey.'
Channeling his power into his legs he pushed of, shattering the branch completely and soared towards the demon faster than anything humanly possible. The world around him flew by so fast, yet to him everything around him was slow, all except the demon infront of him, only it could match his great speed.
Seeing the small creature head into its direction, the demon let out a ferocious roar as it's claws sent ripples through the air, releasing flames towards his small figure. In response, Michael pulled his arm back allowing the muscles in his arm to surge with power, he directed that power into the already vibrating blade, allowing it's own to merge with his. Not only was the blade reacting to his will and desire to fight, now with his power mixing with its own it was like the blade had become an extension of his body.
Dark smoke seemed from within the blade, and was released the moment he swung out towards the demon, and a dark crescent slash was released clashing with the flames until it consumed them completely.
Michael smiled wickedly as he saw his power contend with its own. He yelled out as his blade finally met with its claws, and a bright glow emitted from both of their eyes.
"You're not the only demon in this forest."
