Gladion eyes were locked on Deoxys. The alien Pokémon floated calmly in its Defense Form, its body had become thick and solid like living armor.
Gladion spoke clearly so his entire team could hear. "Be careful. In that Defense Form, Deoxys is pretty much invulnerable."
Latios hovered beside him, "And the downside is… its attack power and speed is significantly lowered, right?"
Gladion grinned. "Yes. And even an invulnerable shield would falter sometimes. I would bet my money that they would falter against two legendary dragons."
Both Latias and Latios grinned at the same time. They wanted to test the so called invulnerable defense of Deoxys anyways.
They gathered energy at their mouths. Small balls of dragon power formed in front of them, glowing with deep blue light. The air around them crackled with power.
They released Dragon Pulse at the exact same moment. Two thick beams of dragon energy shot forward and slammed into the psychic barrier Deoxys had raised with one hand.
A huge explosion filled the cave. The force shook the walls and made loose rocks fall from the ceiling. The blast was loud and bright.
Colossus moved instantly. He appeared in front of Gladion and took the full brunt of the shockwave with his massive body. The impact pushed him back only a few steps. He stood solid, protecting his trainer without hesitation.
When the explosion and sound finally cleared, Latios let out a low whistle of appreciation. "You were not kidding, little brother. That is some defense."
Deoxys appeared unharmed as the barrier in front of it disappeared. Only a single thin crack had ran across the surface of the barrier where the two Dragon Pulses had hit. The alien Pokémon looked completely untouched despite taking two powerful attacks from legendary dragons at the same time.
The same could not be said about its surroundings. Parts of the cave had cracked and crumbled. Large chunks of rock had broken off the walls. The meteor behind Deoxys had several fresh pieces missing, small fragments lying scattered on the ground.
Gladion was sure that when Deoxys turned to examine its meteor, an angry expression took over its face even though its features barely changed.
Deoxys looked at Latios and Latias. Then, in a single quick motion, it changed into Speed Form. Its body became sleeker and lighter. Gladion and his team prepared for the counterattack. But to their surprise, Deoxys shot upward in a flash and flew straight out of the hole in the cave ceiling.
[Is he running away? Was not he supposed to be some very powerful alien Pokemon?] Hisoka asked, sounding surprised.
Nyx who was beside him said with a wicked little smile. [He must have seen the pitifulness of his existence. Poor thing realized he cannot handle real power. He probably wants to go cry in a corner somewhere far away where no one can see his shame. How cute. I almost feel sorry for him. Almost.] She giggled softly, her red eyes shining with clear enjoyment at the idea of Deoxys fleeing in fear. [Maybe I should chase him just to make sure he remembers who the real bosses are. I could tie his little alien arms together like I did with Zeus's tails. That would be fun to watch.]
Gladion watched Deoxys disappear through the hole. He thought carefully before coming with a logical conclusion.
"He is trying to protect his meteor. So he is taking the fight out of here."
Colossus grunted from beside him. [And why does he think that we would follow him? We can just destroy his meteor right now.]
Gladion smirked. "Because he is a clever bastard. It proves that he is a psychic after all. He knows that since we came here to talk, we would not try to destroy his home without reason. He must have seen enough memories from the Aura Guardians that he kileld to understand how humans work. From that he must have judged our actions."
Gladion had a brief thought of ordering the team to destroy the meteor. But he pushed the idea away quickly. That would only create real hatred. There would be no coming back from that. The fight would turn into a battle to the death with no chance for understanding. He did not want that outcome if it could be avoided.
"So we follow?" Latios asked.
Gladion replied without hesitation. "We follow."
Latios, Latias, and Hisoka flew up through the hole in the ceiling. Ultron teleported himself and Gladion outside at the same time. Colossus, Craggy and Nyx moved with them through the teleport. They appeared on the mountainside under the sun. Deoxys was already waiting in Speed Form, hovering a short distance away.
Deoxys decided to blitz attack Gladion, the one he realized was commanding the battle. He shot forward like a bullet, incredibly fast.
Gladion was not surprised, and neither were his Pokémon. Colossus reacted instantly. His tail glowed with dragon energy as he slammed a Dragon Tail toward the incoming Deoxys. Deoxys was faster. He dodged the heavy tail at the last moment and stopped his own attack just before reaching Gladion.
Deoxys tried to get back at Gladion again. This time Latios and Latias moved in and surrounded him from both sides. Their psychic power pressed against him, limiting his movement.
Gladion gave the next order clearly. "Colossus, Sandstorm. Let's make that Speed Form of his useless for the rest of the fight."
Colossus nodded with a deep roar. He stomped the ground hard. The air around them began to swirl. Sand and dust rose from the mountain slope and whipped into a powerful storm.
The sandstorm grew quickly, filling the area with biting grains that stung and reduced visibility. In Speed Form, Deoxys relied on his incredible speed. The sandstorm would slow him down and make his movements much harder to control.
The grains scratched against his body and forced him to move more carefully. Colossus stood firm in the center of the storm, his steel body completely unaffected.
