Kalia was furious, but her anger wouldn't help now; the most critical task was to prevent the Dark Guild members from charging forward. With such a large number of Pokemon attacking, both Trainers and their Pokemon on the scene could be at grave risk.
They needed to hold out until Elite Four Taro arrives. Once he does, the Trainers from the Ellie region would have no choice but to intervene. Moreover, Taro's presence alone should intimidate the Dark Guild, potentially forcing them to retreat.
"Charizard, come forth." Kalia released all her Pokemon, including Charizard. In this battle, over twenty Trainers faced off against more than a hundred Dark Guild members.
The disparity in Pokemon numbers was significant, but it wasn't entirely hopeless. It seemed that neither the guild master nor any high-ranking members of the Dark Guild were engaging yet, opting instead to observe.
Additionally, considering the overall strength of the Dark Guild's Pokemon, they likely couldn't match up against those from the Sebas region, giving the outnumbered side a fighting chance.
"Everyone, use wide-area moves as much as possible!" Kalia shouted loudly. This was the best strategy available, as wide-area moves could inflict greater damage on the Dark Guild's Pokemon collectively. With superior individual power, they could compensate for the numerical disadvantage.
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded and swiftly commanded their Pokemon to unleash area-of-effect moves. However, only a limited number of Pokemon had mastered such abilities, which was quite unfortunate.
As Lian's Pokemon emerged from Poké Balls, they noticed Dark Guild members advancing with their Pokémon. He glanced further away and spotted Kentra along with several other guild members, all familiar faces from his dreamland encounters.
Lian soared into the sky, observing the dense swarm of Pokémon ahead. Despite their large numbers, he estimated their strength to be relatively weak, comparable to beginner trainers at most—after all, these were just ordinary members of the Dark Guild.
The group comprised hundreds of Pokémon, but few possessed flying capabilities. With the high-ranking officials of the Dark Guild yet to engage, Lian knew he must quickly neutralize the Pokémon on the ground before reinforcements arrive.
"I can give my newly learned technique a try," thought Lian, preparing to simultaneously cast two identical moves. This skill became available when his Control Rating reached 60%.
The battle erupted; while the airborne Pokémon fared reasonably well, those on the ground struggled immensely against the overwhelming onslaught. Although capable of holding their own against multiple opponents, the sheer number of enemy Pokémon posed a significant challenge.
The human Trainers had retreated to the farthest point, avoiding the energy waves generated by the intense Pokemon battles while continuously commanding their Pokemon to fend off attacks.
Lian understood that time was crucial; any lapse in defense could endanger Kalia and others' lives.
Sceptile performed admirably, utilizing its agility to navigate effortlessly through the onslaught. However, its limited offensive capabilities prevented it from decisively turning the tide of battle.
To unleash two identical moves simultaneously, Lian needed separate points of energy release. For Charizard, apart from the mouth as one such point, the tail served as another potent energy source.
Thus, Charizard could emit Flamethrower both from its mouth and tail, with no other available energy release points. Some exceptionally powerful Special Attack moves could only be cast through either the mouth or tail. Having mastered the technique of releasing identical moves concurrently, Lian could now execute them from both mouth and tail at once.
Facing this multitude of Pokemon, Lian naturally opted for Fire Blast. Although Heat Wave would have been more effective, he possessed only one pair of wings, allowing him to use it just once. Conversely, Fire Blast could be employed twice, leveraging the massive explosion's power to eliminate multiple Pokemon in a single strike.
Lian puffed out his cheeks while simultaneously wrapping his tail around to face forward, forming a crescent moon shape with his body. Both his mouth and tail were now aimed at the ground-level Pokemon.
Instantly, the flame on Lian's tail intensified, and fiery sparks emerged from his mouth, rapidly growing stronger until they formed intense blazes.
In the next moment, he unleashed two Fire Blasts simultaneously, draining all his flame energy and leaving him momentarily weakened. The burst of scorching flames from both his mouth and tail instantly created massive X-shaped infernos in mid-air.
The X-shaped flames swiftly descended towards the ground. Although appearing to cover only a small area, the explosive power upon detonation was astonishing.
With two separate X-shaped flames heading in different directions at high speed, evasion was nearly impossible due to the close proximity of Dark Guild's Pokemon gathered below.
"That Charizard!" Both the guild members and the guild master, observing the battle, were immediately captivated when they saw the Charizard in the sky releasing such a powerful Fire Blast move.
At this point, there was no stopping the Fire Blasts as they descended directly onto the cluster of Dark Guild Pokemon.
"Detonate!" Lian silently commanded.
BOOM! BOOM!
Two deafening explosions followed. Due to the close proximity of Dark Guild Pokemon, almost none from the Sebas region were affected, while the Dark Guild's forces suffered greatly.
The power of Lian's Fire Blasts, covering a wide area and affecting numerous Pokemon, was undeniable. Even with some Pokemon absorbing part of the blast's impact, the remaining force remained astonishingly strong.
These two Fire Blasts instantly impacted nearly a hundred Pokemon; most lost their ability to continue fighting due to the intense explosion's strength.
Those Pokemon caught in the blasts but still able to battle sustained injuries and were swiftly taken down by others nearby.
Lian's move proved pivotal, as a significant number of Pokemon fell to the ground. Some, being at the epicenter of the explosions, may have even perished, while the majority were rendered incapable of further combat.
"Damn it, stop that Charizard!" Kentra exclaimed, his eyes nearly popping out at the destructive power of the Fire Blasts.
The Charizard posed a significant threat with such powerful moves; if allowed to continue unleashing them, no amount of Pokémon could withstand this barrage.
"I'm on it."
"Me too."
Several guild members swiftly mobilized, deploying Staraptors as mounts and leading other flying-type Pokémon towards Lian's location.
Three high-ranking members joined forces, commanding six flying-type Pokémon: besides Staraptor, three more formidable flying types were enlisted.
The massive Fire Blasts naturally caught the attention of Trainers from the Sebas region. Witnessing these two devastating attacks boosted their confidence significantly. If they could execute more wide-range moves like that, victory was within reach.
In just an instant, nearly a hundred Pokémon were incapacitated, greatly reducing the pressure on the Sebas team. Although over 200 Pokémon remained, their chances now seemed brighter than before.
"Protect the Charizard!" The Trainers from the Sebas region recognized the critical role of Charizard. They ordered all flying-type Pokémon to safeguard it, knowing that if Charizard could unleash several more moves akin to those earlier blasts, they would have a strong counterattack opportunity.
