Chapter 345 - Chapter 345: System Upgrade

Inside his Poké Ball, Lian awaited midnight to enter the system space.

He had discovered that if he didn't resist when midnight struck, he would automatically enter the system space. However, if he resisted, he wouldn't enter, but the daily combat rating and corresponding Combat Points rewards would still accumulate.

Naturally, most of the time, Lian chose to enter the system space, taking advantage of this opportunity to venture into the Dream World alongside Zapdos for battles and gaining experience.

Over three months, Lian accumulated a significant amount of Combat Points. However, due to various missions, suitable opponents were limited, resulting in fewer points than initially anticipated.

Initially, Lian planned to battle mid-level trainers in Totem City every day. With 4v4 format battles, he expected to earn at least 3,000 Combat Points per day.

In reality, because of these missions, it was impossible to return to the city daily. Often, he found himself in the wilderness without appropriate opponents. Consequently, he had no choice but to engage with random wild Pokemon just to meet the minimum daily combat requirement, compromising the potential Combat Point rewards.

As of now, Lian's Combat Points have not yet reached two hundred thousand; however, that was yesterday's count. Today, he estimates it should surpass the two hundred thousand mark.

Lian has been continuously saving his Combat Points, hoping to test if the system could still upgrade further. The milestone of two hundred thousand Combat Points seemed significant, as previous attempts did not trigger any upgrades. He believes this threshold is most likely when the system will advance.

If even two hundred thousand isn't enough, Lian won't wait much longer, considering it's already a substantial amount. It's time to reap the rewards.

Time passes swiftly, and soon Kalia feels drowsy. She closes her book, freshens up, and lies down to sleep.

Shortly after midnight arrives.

Despite being late at night, Totem City remains bustling with many places still lit up, although most people have already drifted off to slumber.

Feeling sleepiness creeping in, Lian yields without resistance, gradually losing consciousness, as if about to fall asleep.

In the next moment, Lian regains awareness, finding himself within the system space, but the surroundings have changed, and simultaneously, he realizes he cannot move.

Contrary to panic, Lian feels ecstatic, as this indicates the system is upgrading, which might introduce new features or functionalities upon completion.

Lian patiently waited as the previously white system space gradually transformed. It now appeared as an expansive grassland, looking incredibly realistic.

The verdant green grass and authentic-looking soil created an immersive environment, with the only exception being the absence of wildlife. Everything else felt remarkably genuine.

Lian surmised that the system space was now simulating real-world environments. Although it seemed somewhat pointless initially, at least it provided a significant improvement over the previous blank whiteness.

As he quietly awaited further instructions, Lian glanced at the combat statistics display ahead. Due to the system upgrade, it was currently blurred out, revealing nothing.

He knew his Combat Points must have surpassed 200,000 by now, but realistically, even that wasn't much considering how quickly Fire-Type Mastery consumed them.

The inconsistency in recent battles didn't help either, though there was little choice since Kalia needed to accept missions for income.

Despite the low Combat Points growth, these missions often involved dangerous encounters, rapidly increasing Lian's battle experience. Currently, he had reached Level 48.

Lian was steadily approaching Level 50, yet this was just the beginning; another fifty levels lay ahead, with Level 100 marking the true pinnacle in gaming terms.

Jirachi might already be around this level; if it possessed Lian's Control Rating and Proficiency, even twenty Xatus combined would not stand a chance against Jirachi, forcing them to flee early.

Today's combat rating battle was against a mid-level Trainer with decent strength. Lian estimated earning approximately 3,500 Combat Points from this encounter.

The main issue was the absence of Pokemon like Snorlax; with such a Pokemon, each combat rating match could easily yield four to five thousand Combat Points.

It would truly feel like heaven, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible. Pokemon with high Stamina base stats are rare and difficult to train, often being voracious eaters. Without substantial wealth, one simply couldn't afford to maintain them.

As these thoughts crossed his mind, the system upgrade finally completed.

Lian regained control and looked up at the updated combat data after the system update, noticing minimal changes at first glance.

However, just skimming wouldn't reveal much. After reviewing briefly, he clicked on the links within the data and discovered significant alterations.

Carefully examining each link, Lian found numerous additions and considerable modifications to the rules of the Combat System.

For instance, the method of obtaining Combat Points previously required direct combat only. Now, although still primarily through battles, it seems the system adjusted due to Lian's increasing consumption of Combat Points.

As a result, acquiring Combat Points has become relatively easier. Previously, the amount earned was based on adding together various factors, with higher opponent Stamina and Ability Values yielding more Combat Points.

However, now there is an additional multiplier bonus for battling legendary Pokémon. This means that when Lian defeats a legendary Pokémon, depending on its rarity, he will randomly receive a multiplier bonus upon victory.

For example, if Lian defeats Zapdos, not only would he earn basic Combat Points but also a random 1-3 times multiplier bonus.

So, if defeating Zapdos grants Lian 2,000 Combat Points, with a random multiplier draw resulting in three times, he would ultimately gain a total of 6,000 Combat Points.

Of course, the key factor remains Lian's strength, as legendary Pokémon are notoriously challenging. Without sufficient power, attempting such battles would be futile.

Wait!

Lian's eyes suddenly lit up. When considering the easiest legendary Pokémon to face, Jirachi undoubtedly comes to mind, especially given its high Stamina value.

Considering Jirachi's level, its conservative Physical Ability Value would still be at least 3,000. Crucially, due to its weaker strength, Lian could easily defeat it.

Moreover, Lian had previously helped Jirachi. If he could locate Jirachi and leverage the system's multiplier bonus for legendary Pokémon battles daily,

Even with just a two-fold multiplier each time, he could earn over 6,000 Combat Points per battle. Within a month, Lian could accumulate as many Combat Points as what used to take him three months.

If he managed to get a three-fold multiplier, that would result in over 10,000 Combat Points income, equivalent to about three or four days' worth of regular earnings.

"Where can I find it?" Lian felt helpless; he hadn't asked before, unsure where Jirachi might have gone. Additionally, being constantly with Kalia left him no spare time for searching.

However, once he locates Jirachi, he is confident that it will definitely assist him, ensuring a steady supply of Combat Points.

Nevertheless, he shouldn't solely rely on Jirachi. With this system update, it seems the stage is set for Lian to start challenging legendary Pokémon.
