Lian glanced at the fiftieth floor; reaching the top internally would require using the elevator for speed, but his size made that impossible. He estimated he could only fly up from outside, leaving him with no other choice.
He immediately retraced his steps, with Kalia following closely behind. Upon reaching the shattered window, she leaped onto Lian's back and held on tight.
Without delay, Lian burst out of the tower, flapped his wings once to change direction, and soared towards floors above fifty.
Hmm?
Just then, Lian sensed something unusual. Looking upwards, he spotted several members of the Dark Guild along with a Genesect hovering directly overhead.
"There's another one below," Kalia pointed out. A purple disc-shaped Genesect emerged from beneath, flying straight towards Lian.
Lian remained unfazed, knowing well that the disc form was incapable of combat. As long as he kept flying, the Genesects could only chase him, unable to engage effectively. Once they attempted battle mode, they would plummet down.
The initiative rested firmly with Lian, allowing him to choose aerial combat. These two Genesects had to be dealt with, or they would hinder their subsequent rescue mission.
"Who are you?!" The few Dark Guild members with Flying-type Pokémon shouted confrontationally as they approached Kalia. Their presence indicated that her actions had been detected earlier.
Kalia didn't respond but gently nudged Lian, asking, "Charizard, confident in handling them?"
Lian nodded firmly. With the advantage on his side, these Genesects were incapable of engaging in combat while he could freely use his moves to attack.
Two disk-shaped Genesects flew towards them. Despite being genetically engineered for power, their intelligence seemed quite low.
The Dark Guild's control over numerous Genesects was likely due to their currently limited intellect; otherwise, such powerful Pokémon would typically be difficult to subjugate by the guild.
Without hesitation, Lian unleashed Flamethrower, directing it at the approaching Genesect in the sky. Although Flame Spiral is his most proficient move, it originated from Flamethrower, so Lian remained highly skilled in using this technique as well.
Genesect instinctively sensed danger; its only weakness was Fire-type attacks, but it was quadruple vulnerable to them. A direct hit from a Fire-type move would undoubtedly inflict severe damage.
Quickly changing direction, Genesect evaded Lian's Flamethrower, avoiding the fiery impact.
Lian remained unfazed, knowing well that he faced a legendary Pokémon, Genesect. If defeating it were so effortless, legendary Pokémon would be far too undervalued.
It was only because Genesect had been artificially modified and lacked control refinement compared to Lian that it could be somewhat manageable; otherwise, it would have been even more challenging to contend with.
Undeterred by missing his first attack, Lian knew his opponent couldn't retaliate effectively against him either.
In the next moment, Lian swiftly flew away, increasing the distance between himself and Genesect while preparing for his next move.
The two Genesects regrouped and pursued Lian, leaving behind the Dark Guild members who struggled to keep up due to their inferior Flying-type Pokémon, unable to match their speed.
Lian refrained from descending to the ground; doing so would trigger Genesect's combat mode. Currently, their disk form was most advantageous for him. Once Genesect fully unleashed its battle capabilities, Lian lacked confidence in taking on two of them simultaneously.
Moreover, if he reached the ground, Kalia would inevitably deploy all her Pokémon. Although they could win together, his individual combat rating would suffer, as it would reflect a team effort rather than his solo performance, resulting in a significant loss of Combat Points.
Therefore, unless facing multiple Genesects, Lian preferred to handle situations independently. The best strategy now was to avoid landing and resolve the fight in the air.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Quickly, Lian launched two consecutive Air Slashes. Preparing an Air Cannon took too long, and given the agility of Genesect, there was no guarantee of hitting them. Air Slash proved more efficient, allowing rapid release with high speed and better concealment.
Bam! Bam!
As anticipated, both Genesects were struck by the Air Slashes instantly. Two distinct collision sounds echoed, momentarily hindering Genesect's flight momentum.
Lian didn't expect to swiftly defeat both Pokemon; he was waiting for an opportunity. As soon as his Fire-type move lands a hit, these Genesects would be incapacitated.
In the sky, two Genesect relentlessly pursued a Charizard. However, the Genesects were unable to unleash their attacks, while Charizard continuously fired moves and accelerated, maintaining distance.
Kalia relaxed, realizing that the Genesects had no means of attacking Charizard effectively. Their current state limited them to flying and basic defense, making it impossible to execute complex moves.
The Dark Guild members in the distance became mere blurs due to the vast gap between them, as Lian had flown far ahead.
Suddenly, Lian changed direction and headed back towards the Oceanview Tower. He couldn't stray too far, or returning later would become cumbersome.
As he altered course, the Genesects closed the gap momentarily. Seizing this chance, Lian swung a punch at one of them, igniting intense flames around his fist.
Previously, his long-range Fire-type moves had been repeatedly evaded by the Genesects, suggesting they possessed a natural alertness against such attacks, often managing to dodge them easily.
Lian swiftly closed the distance and unleashed his Fire Punch, ensuring that once engaged, the Genesect couldn't evade due to his superior speed.
Wham!
The powerful punch struck the Genesect directly, sending it flying away. Although brief, the intense flames enveloping Lian's fist inflicted significant damage on the Genesect.
Having already sustained multiple hits from Lian earlier, this additional strike with Fire Punch, despite not being his strongest move, was enough to render the Genesect combat ineffective.
Meanwhile, the second Genesect sensed imminent danger and instantly transformed from its disc shape into battle mode.
It briefly took flight but could not sustain it for long, as its flying ability relied on the energy-propelled cannon mounted on its back. Once transformed, the cannon positioned itself at the rear, making it difficult to control flight during combat.
Without propulsion, the transformed Genesect began plummeting towards the ground. However, just before impact, the energy cannon rapidly gathered power and fired a high-tech Techno Blast towards Lian.
