Chapter Two Hundred and Thirty-Seven
"So let me get this straight."
Markus stared at Settimo, his face tightening as everything he had heard finally began to connect.
"Ahmet isn't your biological son?"
Settimo said nothing.
"Then why the hell did you let him believe he slept with his own sister and got her pregnant?" Markus demanded, disbelief and anger fighting across his face. "What the hell is wrong with both of you?"
Asli stood quietly, also in her own world.
For the first time since everything had been revealed, the mess between her and Ahmet had momentarily disappeared beneath everything else. There were too many truths crashing into each other. Too many pieces of a life she thought she understood being ripped apart and rearranged before her eyes.
"You won't understand, Markus."
"I'm not asking you to make me understand!"
Markus dragged a hand through his hair.
