"Undead! It's the undead!"
Hearing the exclamation, the captain ignored the injury on his leg, grabbed his weapon, and rushed towards the cave entrance.
Dickbin followed closely behind.
By the light of the burning flames outside the cave, they finally saw clearly the "things" pouring into the trench, and their blood froze in an instant.
These were not ordinary undead.
They were creatures forcibly stitched together from countless broken limbs, their rotting bellies sewn shut with rough black thread, barely containing the dark green viscera.
Some had rat heads attached to human arms, while others were the opposite, with rat bodies bearing human heads.
They crawled through the inferno, oblivious to pain, issuing eerie hisses from their throats, making some of the less mentally resilient recruits nauseous.
To call these things undead, even the undead would find it blasphemous...
"Prepare for battle!"
