Every faction is incredibly cautious during burials, because the probability of burying correctly is extremely low. Once you make a mistake, there's no point of return.
This is also why the Heavenly Life Ship only appears once every millennia; the probability of its appearance is so low, yet every time it surfaces, many Earth Corpses and Heavenly Corpses remain in the corpse lands, trading the passing of countless years for a mere one or two added years of life expectancy. This is the most secure method, whereas burying it correctly would certainly be beneficial. If wrong, it means perpetual doom, with no chance of recovery.
And the waters of Tianhe flow throughout the corpse lands, particularly in the east where the ferry is located, shrouded in a mist.
