After resting for the entire night, they wake up, having a potent smell of cinnamon in the room. They look, and see 7 plates with a slice of cinnamon pie, along the pajamas. The pajamas seem to be already finished for them to fit in.
After a quick breakfast of the cinnamon slices of pie, and wearing now the pajamas, they leave the guest's bedroom, as they decided to leave, and wanted to tell Toriel, for if she could tell them where was the exit.
They enter the living room, finding Toriel sitting in the cozy chair aside the fireplace, reading. Once she notices them entering, she moves down the book, closing it.
Toriel: "Oh, good morning, my children. Did you rest well?"
Kaeltherion: "Yes, we rested well. Thank you for the pie and the pajamas. They fit perfectly now."
Velthara: "But... we've decided something. We want to leave. Can you tell us where the exit is?"
Toriel's warm expression faltered slightly, though she quickly masked it with a gentle smile.
Toriel: "Leave? Oh, my children... Are you certain? The underground is not a safe place. Beyond this house lies much danger. Perhaps you should stay here, where it is safe and warm."
Elyssara: "We appreciate your kindness, Toriel. But we need to leave. We have people waiting for us... family."
Toriel's gaze softened, her hands clasping the book tightly.
Toriel: "I understand. But I cannot let you go unprepared. If you are truly set on leaving, then... come. I will guide you to the exit."
She stood, her figure radiating a mix of sadness and resolve. The children exchanged glances before nodding, following her as she began walking toward the hallway leading deeper into the house.
After a moment of walking through the basement downstairs, and through the long hallway, they see the way continuing to the left. After turning left, the hallway is large but less now, and they see a big double door gate at the end. Toriel stops in front of it.
Toriel: "This is the exit to the rest of the Underground... You are not humans, so you don't have to worry, but from coming from outside, either the surface, or from where you come from, monster may want your souls if they see them as valuable as humans' souls."
Toriel turns around, now looking at them.
Toriel: "I'm sorry, but I cannot let you leave. If you leave, you will die, and Asgore will obtain your souls. I can't let you die like the others. If you really want to leave, proof me you are strong enough to survive out there."
Toriel raises her hands, instantly flaming as she moves her hands in a circle, and then, a flame circle appears around them.
The children exchange glances, startled by Toriel's sudden shift in tone and action. The flaming circle glows intensely, casting flickering shadows on the walls of the hallway.
Kaeltherion steps forward, his expression firm, determination evident in his stance.
Kaeltherion: "We don't want to fight you, Toriel. You've been kind to us. But we have to leave. Please, don't make this harder."
Toriel's eyes soften momentarily, but the flames around her hands intensify.
Toriel: "It is not about what I want, my children. It is about what you need to prove to me. If you cannot best me here, then you will not survive out there. Prepare yourselves!"
Zalthirion pulls Elyssara back slightly, whispering, "We need to think carefully... She's strong. But I don't think she wants to hurt us."
Velthara glances at the others, her eyes narrowing. "Should we fight back or try to talk her down? What do we do?"
Toriel waits, standing firm but not making the first move, giving them the chance to act first. The flickering flames around her seem defensive, rather than overtly aggressive, as though she's giving them a moment to decide.
The children hesitate, exchanging glances. The tension in the air is thick, and the flickering flames from Toriel's hands illuminate their faces.
Kaeltherion: "She doesn't want to hurt us. I can feel it. But if we don't show her what we're capable of, we'll be stuck here forever."
Lymtherion steps forward, his voice calm but resolute. "We can't hurt her. She's done nothing but care for us. There has to be another way."
Velthara: "If we don't fight, we'll never leave. Maybe just... enough to make her stop."
Elyssara's voice trembles slightly, her usual confidence shaken. "What if she doesn't stop? What if she won't let us go, no matter what?"
Zalthirion: "We outnumber her. Let's see if we can wear her down without attacking her. Show her we're strong by enduring whatever she throws at us."
Toriel observes their deliberation, her expression unreadable. The flames in her hands flicker as she raises them slightly.
Toriel: "Hesitation will not save you. If you are truly strong enough to leave, show me now!"
With that, she summons several fireballs that float around her before launching them toward the group. The flames arc through the air, glowing brightly but moving slower than they could, as though Toriel is holding back.
Kaeltherion steps forward, shielding Elyssara and Lymtherion while narrowly dodging the flames. Velthara and Zalthirion move in opposite directions, their agility keeping them out of harm's way.
Kaeltherion: "Toriel, stop! We don't want to hurt you!"
Toriel doesn't respond, instead conjuring a second wave of fire, this time larger and more erratic.
Velthara: "We need to do something! We can't just dodge forever!"
Elyssara: "Let's try talking to her—together!"
As the flames close in, the group splits, each attempting to approach Toriel from a different angle. Elyssara raises her voice, calling out above the sound of crackling fire.
Elyssara: "Toriel! You've taken care of us, and we're grateful. But we have to leave. Please, believe in us!"
Toriel hesitates for a moment, her flames faltering slightly before reigniting with renewed intensity.
Toriel: "Words alone will not protect you out there. Prove your strength, or I cannot let you leave!"
Zalthirion steps forward, his voice steady. "If you won't stop, then we'll endure. We'll show you we can survive—not by fighting, but by standing together!"
The group regroups, moving in unison as the next wave of fireballs descends. They dodge with precision, coordinating their movements and protecting one another when needed.
Toriel's attacks grow fiercer, but the children refuse to strike back. With each wave, their determination shines brighter, their resolve unshaken despite the flames.
Toriel's expression softens as she watches their efforts. The flames in her hands flicker and dim slightly, her attacks becoming less frequent.
Toriel: "You... truly refuse to fight. Even against me. You... remind me of someone..."
She lowers her hands, the fire fading completely. Her eyes shimmer with unshed tears as she steps back, her voice trembling.
Toriel: "Very well. You have proven your strength—not through violence, but through determination and unity. Perhaps... you are ready after all."
The tension in the room dissipates, and the children exchange relieved glances, their breathing heavy but steady.
Kaeltherion: "Thank you, Toriel. We'll make sure your trust isn't misplaced."
Toriel places a hand on her chest, her expression one of sorrow and hope.
Toriel: "Go now, my children. But promise me... be careful. And when you see Asgore... do not hate him. He is burdened by his choices, just as I am."
She steps aside, allowing them to approach the massive double doors. As they move past her, she lingers, watching them with a mixture of pride and sadness.
Toriel: "May the light of the stars guide you safely through the Underground."
With that, the children push open the doors, stepping into the unknown ahead. The air feels colder, heavier, as they venture beyond the safety of the Ruins and into the deeper mysteries of the Underground.
