Maya tossed that necklace into the trash and has been so rebellious, refusing to shower or dress up for the engagement announcement dinner party that will take place in an hour. All she has done practically the whole day is cry because it hurts too much. She just wants to go back to Alaska, to her husband, her beautiful home, and the wonderful life they were building there.
A knock sounded on the door, and Maya immediately thought it was the maids coming to get her ready for the engagement party. However, when the door opened, it wasn't them; it was the last man she ever wanted to see—Marcello.
Maya pulled the comforter over her head. "Go away! I don't want to see your moronic face!"
