Chapter 478 - Sacred Rewards

"Click!"

Deoxys, completely unable to resist, didn't make John wait any longer.

The Luxury Ball sealed with a satisfying snap.

For legendary Pokemon, ordinary Pokeballs like the Luxury Ball typically possessed no real containment ability. Even if they lost combat capability and were captured, they could forcefully break free after recovering their strength.

This explained why villains in anime always preferred using technology to control Pokemon rather than relying on Pokeball capture.

However, this situation was different for John. Pokemon captured through the game naturally had to follow the game's rules.

After all, had anyone ever heard of captured Pokemon defecting in the Pokemon games?

Mega Gardevoir delivered the Luxury Ball to John's hands.

Deoxys's statistics immediately displayed before him:

[Deoxys (Psychic)] (Mythical Pokemon)]

[Level: 91]

[Ability: Pressure (Pokemon using moves against it consume additional energy)]

[IV's: HP (31), Attack (31), Special Attack (31), Defense (31), Special Defense (31), Speed (31)]

[Moves: Teleport, Night Shade, Wrap, Leer, Knock Off, Toxic Spikes, Psychic, Switcheroo, Psycho Shift, Zen Headbutt, Cosmic Power, Hyper Beam, Calm Mind, Extrasensory, Recover, Form Change]

[Held Item: Meteorite]

"Perfect IVs, mythical Pokemon," John reflected. The last time he'd seen such a panel was with Zeraora.

Luxurious stats, terrifying moveset.

Deoxys was truly a formidable opponent. With Recover alone, none of his Pokemon could defeat it in a one-on-one battle.

But now, Deoxys was his Pokemon.

This invincible presence would only threaten his opponents from now on.

"Meteorite?" John removed the held item from Deoxys.

[Meteorite: A meteorite from beyond the stars.]

"I think I have another one of these," John opened his inventory and searched carefully.

Soon he found another Meteorite in the valuables section with identical description.

This Meteorite had been obtained when John cleared his first dungeon, "Volcano Project."

"So does Meteorite contain cosmic energy?" Originally, John thought it could only be traded to the Nacrene Gym Leader for the Return move TM.

But now that the cosmic Pokemon Deoxys carried this seemingly ordinary Meteorite, John began forming new theories.

"I'll take it back for the researchers to analyze." John pocketed both the Meteorite and Pokeball. Deoxys could be trained gradually later, right now, he needed to return and test whether Deoxys could replenish Jirachi's special cosmic energy.

Before leaving the dungeon world, a completion reward screen appeared before John.

[Dungeon "Visitor from Outer Space" (completed), rewards as follows:]

[1. Random Legendary Pokemon Item]

[2. Random Legendary Pokemon Exclusive Move TM]

"Are these the standard rewards for defeating legendary Pokemon dungeons?" John remembered that clearing "Dark Mauville" containing Lugia had yielded the same two reward types, in addition to access to the Ferrum Region.

Last time he'd received Zamazenta's exclusive item "Rusted Shield" and Groudon's signature move "Precipice Blades."

He wondered what awaited him this time.

The scenery collapsed around him as John returned to his room. He was about to have Gardevoir teleport him back to the laboratory when text displayed on his Gameboy made him freeze in amazement.

[Item Acquired: Sacred Ash]

[TM Acquired: Dragon Ascent]

"What?"

"Seriously? Did I win the lottery today?"

Even having seen many legendary Pokemon items and exclusive moves, John never expected to receive Sacred Ash and the Dragon Ascent TM.

[Sacred Ash Revives the deceased, the miracle of rebirth]

[Note: the effect clearly stated "revives the deceased", not simply recovering from fainted status.]

In Pokemon games, when Pokemon lost combat ability they were considered "fainted," not dead.

Throughout the entire game series, only Sacred Ash possessed true resurrection capabilities. Moreover, the revival was complete.

John remembered a movie he'd watched before arriving in this world, where Ash had been completely incinerated, yet Ho-Oh's Sacred Ash had instantly revived him.

No matter how someone died, Sacred Ash could restore them regardless of circumstances.

"This is literally an extra life," John marveled.

He examined the TM next.

[Dragon Ascent]

The exclusive move of Rayquaza, Lord of the Sky, known as the strongest Dragon-type Pokemon.

In the games, this was also the key to Rayquaza's evolution into Mega Rayquaza. Among all signature moves, this ranked among the most powerful.

He never imagined obtaining it so easily.

"So who should learn Dragon Ascent?" John pondered.

Following the previous learning patterns with Precipice Blades, Dragon Ascent as a Dragon-type move should only be usable by Dragon-type Pokemon.

Should he give it to Garchomp?

It already knew Precipice Blades, pairing it with Dragon Ascent would create perfect coverage, one attacking from the ground and one from the sky.

Or perhaps his Salamence, making it his new Dragon-type ace.

After consideration, John decided to temporarily store the Dragon Ascent TM in his inventory.

Capturing Rayquaza was only a matter of time. If he wasn't in a hurry, John even wanted to find a Shiny Rayquaza.

John quickly shook his head, dismissing thoughts of Shinies for now.

His current priority was saving Jirachi.

Opening his Gameboy, he flew to a nearby city and had Nurse Joy at the Pokemon Center heal Deoxys.

Closing the Gameboy, he called for Gardevoir to use Teleport.

John was immediately transported back to the laboratory.
