I tossed and turned in my bed, the bandages on my hands itching more than a few mosquito bits. I tried to ignore them, but they seemed to have a life of their own, wrapping me in their constant reminder of the day's chaos.
I glanced toward the balcony.
Why hasn't Kairan shown up yet?
I knew he had some grand purpose for me- probably a royal decree or some world- saving mission. But could he at least make and effort to check on me? It's not like I'm asking for a parade or anything. A simple "Hey, are you okay?" would suffice.
Instead, I was left to stew in my frustration wondering why the guy who's always so stoic and mysterious couldn't find a minute to show some concern. I mean, come on! It's not like I've had a peaceful day or anything.
Kirill's been too busy dealing with rampaging monsters who apparently have a beef with local farmers. As if battling beasts on the edge of villages wasn't enough, he's probably too preoccupied to answer my questions about Kairan.
