Chapter 1011 - Kasumi's Blossoming Joy

As we stepped into the genkan (entryway), Kasumi immediately slipped out of her zori (sandals) and turned to ensure we did the same.

A pair of new, pristine guest slippers was already placed neatly by the door—a sign of respect and preparation for a visitor of importance.

"Please, make yourselves comfortable," Kasumi said, leading us into the main living area. The room was spacious, adorned with tatami mats, a low wooden table (chabudai), and a tokonoma alcove displaying a delicate scroll painting and a single, perfect white chrysanthemum—a symbol of longevity and joy.

Kasumi clapped her hands twice, a subtle signal. Within moments, the maid appeared with a tray bearing steaming cups of matcha, wagashi sweets, and a small ceramic pitcher of cold barley tea.
