Tomiko looked up at me, her dark eyes softening. A small, grateful smile touched her lips as she gave my hand a light squeeze. "Thank you, Jack… Your presence already makes me feel safer."
She took a deep breath, straightening her posture and smoothing her suit jacket with her free hand. "Let's handle this professionally… but I won't pretend I'm not relieved you're here."
She released my hand reluctantly and sat down behind her large mahogany desk, regaining her elegant, powerful CEO demeanor.
I positioned myself standing just to the side of her chair — close enough to be clearly visible as support, yet not overshadowing her authority. I stood tall with my hands clasped behind my back, looking every bit the capable and protective figure beside her.
A few minutes later, the door opened again.
Hina entered first, holding the door open. "Boss, Mr. Daiki has arrived."
