Chapter 263 - Silkworm's Life! Father?

Inside a darkened laboratory deep within the heart of hell, Bai Yi — known among devils as the White Plague — stood before the cold, lifeless body of Fei Yi. His expression was calm, but his hands moved with relentless precision as he continued to add materials into her body.

The heart — dry and shriveled — beat so faintly that it could barely be called alive. Even the Heart of Evil was nearly extinguished under the weight of the alchemist's relentless extraction.

Yet around the corpse swirled enormous streams of life force and soul energy, wrapping it in a cocoon of power.

A soul lantern burned beside him, emitting a faint blue light. The energy within surged continuously toward the Heart of Evil and the corpse below, feeding them both.

Bai Yi hesitated briefly. Then, as if steeling himself, he activated his most forbidden ability — the power of the grotesque.

Boom!

Thunder exploded across the heavens. Black clouds gathered above the laboratory, thick and oppressive, as if the very world rejected what was about to be born.

It was a creation too perfect — a being designed for growth, wisdom, adaptability, and the corruption of hell itself. Yet perfection was fickle; no matter how flawless his design, something was always missing.

Only the grotesque power could fill that void — a primordial force born from the collapse of dimensions.

[Name: Power of the Grotesque]

Attribute: Grotesque

Effect: Can repair or supplement most material deficiencies. Originates from dimensional collapse.

Effect 2: When submitted to the panel, grants 1/5 of an Origin Stone and ×2 special skill points.

Introduction: Perhaps this grotesque energy is the power of creation itself.

A holy seal shimmered into existence above his hand. Within it churned a swirling ball of gray gas — chaotic, alive. The moment it appeared, the corpse below began to stir, the once-perfect form twisting as if yearning for completion.

Bai Yi focused intensely. His vast spiritual energy extended toward the grotesque force, carefully extracting a fraction — no more than one-tenth — before infusing it into Fei Yi's body.

Instantly, the movement ceased. The body turned cold once again, lifeless — but the instruments nearby began to tick wildly. Faint fluctuations of life began to form.

Boom!

Though it was broad daylight, darkness fell over the land. The clouds above churned violently, lightning roaring through the sky — divine retribution preparing to strike.

Bai Yi remained unmoved, his gaze fixed on the data before him. Everything depended on this moment — whether this creation would be accepted or rejected by the world.

When the organism's energy indicators reached a critical threshold, Bai Yi decisively infused his own destiny into Fei Yi's corpse.

Crack! Boom!

Lightning exploded across the heavens — but then paused. The punishment did not fall. After ten long seconds, the clouds began to scatter.

Bai Yi finally exhaled. He retrieved the Soul Lantern and Heart of Evil, placing them back into his dimensional space.

[You have created an unnamed transformation.]

The panel's message glowed before him. He ignored it, waiting silently.

Moments later, Fei Yi's abdomen began to swell unnaturally, her once-perfect body withering rapidly — as though all its nourishment was being consumed from within.

Without hesitation, Bai Yi took up a scalpel and made a precise incision. From within, a small embryo was revealed, glowing faintly.

This was the culmination of his work — the transformation's core.

He began extracting a vital substance — the Blood of Fate. Time was short; destiny only lasted thirty minutes. Within that window, he had to harvest the blood and stabilize the transformation's origin.

Creating such a being again without fate would be impossible. The only way was to draw from this embryo's origin, preserving it for future experiments.

As the final drops of black-gold liquid filled the rune-engraved test tube, the ritual came to its end.

Fei Yi's body was now completely shriveled — a husk. The transformation was complete.

[Transformation named: Silkworm Life.]

[Name: Silkworm Life]

Attribute: Alchemy Transformation

Effect: Creates a high-growth potential creature that starts with three unique expertise attributes.

Warning: The Silkworm Life, though suppressed by world law, is highly dangerous. Do not release it onto the Xia continent.

Warning: If the Silkworm's origin is incomplete, it may perceive and consume all beings of shared origin.

Warning: Do not keep multiple Silkworms in the same area.

Warning: Upon reaching maturity, the Silkworm erodes the rules of its associated elements. The creator will inherit the world's rejection.

Warning: Silkworms devour fate. Killing a Son of Destiny will injure the world's consciousness.

Introduction: A miraculous yet imperfect creation. In its imperfection lies a strange kind of perfection.

Reading the series of warnings, Bai Yi smiled faintly. Perfect.

Danger, rule erosion, adaptability, devouring fate — this was exactly what he desired.

But what kind of "Son of Destiny" do I truly want? he mused.

According to the records of the New God Era, the Sons of Destiny were anomalies born in incomplete worlds — their growth guided by the world's will to repair its own flaws.

Would his Silkworms one day hunt such beings across worlds?

The thought made his eyes gleam.

Crack!

A sound like an egg hatching echoed through the lab. Bai Yi turned toward the corpse.

The abdomen split open, revealing a small, pale creature with delicate wings and soft, snow-white skin — a being that looked more like a newborn human than a monster.

She blinked curiously, scanning her surroundings. When her gaze fell upon Bai Yi, a whirlwind of emotions flashed in her large eyes — fear, bloodlust, confusion, then… affection.

Reaching out with tiny arms, she smiled sweetly and murmured, "...Father."

Bai Yi froze.

He quickly opened his panel, scanning the creature's attributes — and his tension melted into intrigue.

Interesting.

He lifted the little being gently. "You'll be called Fiya."

"Fiya?" she echoed softly.

"Yes," he said with a faint smile. "The name of your predecessor. I'll send you to where you belong soon."

"Fiya… will listen to Father," she said obediently.

"Oh my, my friend," drawled a voice from behind. "And who might this adorable creature be?"

Sabo, the cunning devil, eyed the baby in Bai Yi's arms. His inherited godly senses warned him — this small being was anything but simple.

"Father…" Fiya whispered fearfully, burying herself in Bai Yi's arms as her small wings folded tightly.

Eugene, pale and weary, watched with fascination. Why do I feel… protective of this little one?

"My friend," Sabo said playfully, "is this your daughter? How touching. Shall I prepare a gift? Don't expect much though — I'm terribly poor these days."

Bai Yi ignored his theatrics. "Enough jokes, Sabo. Do you have a plan for this devil?"

Sabo shrugged. "I've granted him some of Hell's lesser rules. He'll gather resources from a few secondary worlds for me. Poor thing doesn't have a choice."

Bai Yi's gaze shifted to Eugene. "You still have those low-level hell creatures?"

Eugene nodded weakly. "Yes… tens of thousands of them."

"Good."

A flicker of space magic later, they returned to the summoning grounds.

The air trembled as countless demonic auras filled the surroundings — tens of thousands of creatures trembling beneath the oppressive presence of their masters.

Bai Yi examined them carefully: two golden-rank demons, one mid-gold, hundreds of silver, and over forty thousand bronze. Enough for what he intended.

"That's sufficient," Bai Yi said. "Sabo, you can go."

Sabo smirked. "Before I leave, one question — can I learn your life creation technique?"

"When you become a master of alchemical transformation, you'll be able to create such beings yourself," Bai Yi replied coolly.

Sabo sighed. "Tsk. Alchemist, mage, godmaker — truly a terrifying profession."

He waved to Eugene. "Let's go, partner. I'll brief you on your next task."

Eugene, already fading, managed a weak, "Okay." Then both vanished in a swirl of black mist.

As silence returned, Bai Yi turned to Fiya, who peered up at him with wide, trusting eyes.

He smiled faintly. "Fiya, let's see your potential, shall we?"

"Fiya listens to Father. But… what should Fiya do?" she asked innocently.

Her angelic face and soft voice disarmed even the most hardened heart.

Bai Yi gently set her down, extending a hand. "Let's find out."

Buzz.

Space rippled — Fiya vanished.

In her place, Bai Yi summoned a low-ranked demon — a level 11 wraith — and commanded, "Kill her. If you succeed, I'll let you go."

The wraith trembled violently, but under the pressure of his power, it obeyed.

Buzz.

Both disappeared.

In a forest of endless twilight, Fiya stumbled to her feet, calling softly, "Father…? Father~"

Her voice quivered, filled with fear.

A chill crept through the air. Shadows twisted.

The wraith emerged.

"Father~!" Fiya cried, trembling.

The wraith hesitated. It felt an inexplicable affection toward her… but compared to the promise of freedom, that emotion meant nothing.

"Sorry," it rasped hoarsely.

Its claws reached toward her small head.

"Don't come closer…" Fiya whimpered, tears forming. "Father, save me!"

A sharp hiss. Darkness surged. The wraith lunged—

Hiccup.

Black smoke leaked from Fiya's lips. The wraith froze mid-motion — and then fell limp, its essence devoured.

Fiya stared down at it, tears welling in her luminous eyes. "Father… did Fiya do something wrong? Fiya can change. Fiya will be good… please don't leave Fiya. Fiya is scared…"

Her voice faded into soft sobs — until another growl shattered the air.

A Hellhound emerged, fangs bared, drooling fire.

Fiya looked up, trembling. "Big dog… please don't eat Fiya. Fiya doesn't taste good…"

The beast leaped.

POOF!

Its skull was pierced — impaled by the shadow of the wraith that had attacked her moments ago.

Fiya sat on the ground, clutching her knees, whispering softly through tears, "Father… Fiya is scared…"
