Chapter 19 - Getting Real

Jaai stood in front of the hundred storey hotel building. At the top of the main door was a crest etched in golden lines, Hotel Eclipse De Grande.

Jaai didn't know what to believe anymore at this point. Here he was standing in front of the hotel, yet he didn't want to believe that it was true.

He could bring up Mumu and ask her more questions but he really think that would be necessary. They have already struck a bet. They should leave it at that for now.

He walked towards the building hoping that he would not be embarrassed. The security men of this hotel were said to be tough and very unapologetic.

Walking to the door, he was stunned not to see any security personnel at the door. Could this be real? Or did the system make them disappear?

At this point, Jaai realised that thinking too much would only complicate the situation. He should just go with the flow. After all, there's a bet standing.

Walking into the large lobby of the hotel, Jaai felt lost. He has only heard about the hotel, he could never have imagined that he would one day be standing in the lobby.

There were a couple of prominent clientele sitting in couches and hanging around the spacious and utterly conducive environment. For a moment, Jaai almost forgot the reason he had come here.

Soon enough, he regained the precision and looked towards the receptionist counter. There were at least seven beautiful and sleek ladies standing behind the long marble counter.

"Oh shit. There are seven?" Jaai was stunned.

Just one person called him. He didn't even know the name of the lady. How was he supposed to identify her in the midst of these beautiful girls?

"What did she say her name was?" He was trying to rack his brain perhaps it would be helpful, but it wasn't.

"She didn't even tell me her name." He recalled. She had just gone straight to the point.

"I can just call her number back and see which of them answers the call." Jaai came to a conclusion.

He pulled out his phone and started to dial a number. He was looking from one of the girls to the other. A couple of them wore tough faces. There was only one of them that had a warm face. Jaai wished that she would be the one.

In one of the corners of the lobby, there was a burly man dressed in black suit with a dark shade to-matched. The man has been staring at Jaai ever since Jaai walked into the lobby.

Right now, the man was walking towards Jaai.

"Hello. It's Jaai." Jaai said into the phone.

The receptionist who had a warm smile was the one who answered the call. Jaai could sigh in relief when he saw this.

"I'm standing in the lobby opposite you. I'm waving." Jaai waved at her.

The lady lifted her gaze and saw him. She shot a smile in his direction. Jaai picked up his pace and hurried towards her.

The man in black stopped in his tracks when he saw Jaai leaving for the counter. He returned to he position.

"Hi! I believe I received a call from you about being a concierge." Jaai tried to sound as professional as he could.

For all he knew, even up to this moment, it was still all a bet. He wouldn't be surprised if the security was called to gather around him and kick him out.

"Yes, please. Here is your card." She reached under the counter and brought out a sleek golden card. "You'll be filling in as a concierge for a limited time."

Although the lady was smiling, she looked about her business. She was very professional and hospitable. Jaai really admired her. Perhaps a part of him is already fond of her.

"Okay, thank you." Jaai nodded about to turn around from her, even though he didn't know what he would do.

"Here also. Your clients will call you on this phone. It's strictly business related." The lady added, handing a black walkie-talkie to him.

While she was speaking with him, the telephone rang and she answered it. She spoke for a while before turning to Jaai.

"I won't be able to attend to you any longer. I have something else to do. My colleague will take you to where you'll change." The lady explained then gestured at one of the other six receptionists.

When Jaai looked at the new lady, his heart dropped. She has the meanest face amongst the group. She looks like a hard nut to crack.

"Hi. I'm Jaai, and I'll be needing your---"

"Follow me!" The lady snapped then led the way.

She was rude. Jaai could tell so easily, but he didn't want to read any meaning to it. Perhaps she's just the type that focuses strictly on business without any sense of warmth.

As long as she instructs him, they shouldn't have any problem. Jaai decided.

He followed her into the elevator, through the fifth floor until they got to a room. She unlocked the door with a card and stepped in.

"Here is the room where you'll change your dress." She said dryly. "Get dressed." She ordered.

"Huh?" Jaai was a little uncomfortable.

How can she ask him to get dressed while she was watching?

"What?! Do you think I care about your dick? Get dressed and don't waste my time!" She sneered, rolling her eyes.

"My dick is not littl---" He swallowed the words.

His jaws dropped. At first, he had thought that perhaps she was just being strict with work. Right now, it was evident that she just being an asshole!

He could trade insults with her, but he'd rather not. He's still not sure what to do here.

He turned his back to her and removed his dressed. He wore the black tuxedo and Italian shoes that were packed in the white case. He was now looking bright and sharp.

"This is the only important rule!" She raised her voice.

Jaai had no choice but to turn to her. She continued,

"Do not mess this up! I don't know why you were chosen out of the blue, or why Dylan wasn't able to make it here today! You're just a substitute, so don't get any ideas! This is our full-time job, do whatever the clients tell you to! I'm sure you have ears!" She lashed out at him.

Jaai didn't even know how to react to everything she was saying. He didn't know who Dylan was or who he was to her! But that doesn't give her the right to talk him down like this!

She turned around and walked off, leaving the door open.

"What the hell was that?" Jaai gasped, just staring blankly.

All of a sudden, she walked back and stood at the door. She stared at him for a moment with a despicable look. Jaai was forced to look down at himself to see if he had a patch of dung on his cloth. No, he didn't.

She brought out a card from her pocket and threw it at his feet.

"You'll need that to gain access to the garage." She said then walked off.

Jaai didn't know when his face spread into a weird laugh. That definitely wasn't what he was feeling, but that was the only way he could express his frustration.

While in thoughts, his gaze drifted to the huge mirror on the left side of the wall. He saw a handsome young man staring back at him in the mirror.

"Damn! I'm so hot!!!" He chuckled as he tapped himself in the chest.

Suddenly, the smile faded away. Reality dawned on him.

"Is this all real? This task and system. Am I really going to become the owner of this huge hotel after I complete all the tasks? Nah! It can't be true." He shook his head.

"But if I did become the owner, I'm going to mess that bitch up!" He gritted his teeth as he recalled what she treated him.

Beep! Beep! A phone started buzzing. Based on muscle memory, he pulled out his own phone first. But then he realised that it was the walkie-talkie.

"Hello." Jaai requested.

"Is this Mr Jaai Eon Loftygram?" A sweet feminine voice asked on the other end of the phone.

"Yes, it is." Jaai tried to sound as professional as he could. This whole thing is becoming real eventually.

"I'm at the airport now. Please bring the car and pick me up." The voice faded away after those words, and the call was hung.
